Farmers Pick receives praise for its mission to reduce food waste and support local farmers, with many users highlighting the exceptional freshness and flavour of the produce compared to major supermarkets. The service is popular for its "surprise" element, which encourages culinary creativity and increased vegetable consumption. However, significant recurring issues with delivery reliability, missing items, and a perceived decline in quality for long-term subscribers have led to frustration.
Pros
- Product Freshness and Taste: Users frequently report that the fruit and vegetables are "juicy," "crisp," and "earthy," often lasting much longer in the fridge than supermarket alternatives.
- Variety and Culinary Inspiration: The seasonal "lucky dip" nature of the boxes encourages users to try new recipes and diverse produce they wouldn't typically purchase.
- Value for Money: Most users find the quantity of produce provided in the boxes to be generous and more affordable than equivalent organic or premium supermarket ranges.
- Environmental Impact: The plastic-free packaging and the initiative to save "imperfect" produce from landfill resonate strongly with eco-conscious consumers.
Cons
- Delivery and Logistics Failures: Recurring complaints involve boxes being left in the sun, delivered to incorrect addresses, or drivers ignoring specific accessibility and drop-off instructions.
- Missing or Incomplete Orders: There is a significant pattern of missing "add-on" items, such as meat, eggs, or fruit boxes, with some users receiving only half of their paid order.
- Poor Customer Service Accessibility: The lack of a contact phone number and reliance on slow email responses or AI-generated bots is a major point of contention when resolving urgent issues.
- Quality Consistency: While initial boxes are often high quality, some long-term customers report a "steady decline" featuring bruised fruit, rotten potatoes, or "shrinkflation" in box weights.
Verdict
Farmers Pick is an excellent choice for households looking to support local growers and access high-quality, flavourful produce that lasts. However, the service is currently marred by inconsistent delivery partners and a customer support system that many find difficult to navigate when orders go wrong. Prospective users should be prepared to manage their subscription closely and may face challenges if they require precise delivery handling.
Genuinely amazed at the products, and i never leave reviews... I kinda assumed it would be really bad quality or quantity, but it was SO worth it and feels amazing not buying from dumb supermarkets! Can't believe we didnt do this earlier! Show reply
This company is doing amazing work for the environment and community. I’m an unemployed student and I save a fortune getting my groceries delivered. 5.5 kg a week for 1 person plus any other pantry goodies. Highly recommended to everyone. Show reply
Unreliable delivery services. Do NOT recommend!!! Have been a subscriber for 2-3 months & on multiple occasions the meat boxes I ordered haven’t been delivered. They somehow either; don’t get “scanned” or “lost in transfer” blows my mind how.. The produce & overall quality is great.. service not so much..

Love the variety and we love the increased diversity of fresh produce we eat. I also enjoy the challenge of using up the remainder, and learning how to make preserves and pickles to reduce waste Show reply
So happy with delivery of small veggie box Plus Josh’s eggs. Fresh and versatile each time and they last longer than supermarket veggies and no plastic packaging! Show reply
Ten months on and we are still very happy with our medium, fortnightly, fruit and vegetables delivery. There is plenty of variety with the quantity of veg exceeding the fruit, which suits us perfectly. I have expanded my recipe repertoires to increase veg consumption eg: turkey and veg cottage pie with creamy mashed potato and parsnips. A dinner… Read more · 1

On occasion, Farmers Pick have had to change our delivery day due to a public holiday in that week, but they send out an email to let me know and I work around it. There is also the option online for us to skip a delivery or two if we’re away or it’s not convenient to receive a delivery for that week.
I love the convenience and look forward to receiving the delivery. My grandson had fun for the recent delivery, emptying the box, saying colours and learning the names of different fruits and vegetables. It kept him occupied and he enjoyed helping to put the fruit and veg in the fridge. Win!

Love the variety and the quantity, along with the convenience. The perfectly imperfect fruit and vegetable have been perfect Show reply
Lovely and fresh fruit and veggies with all the flavour. The meat has been amazing. It has made me realise how much available food in supermarkets has changed in my lifetime. I’m actually enjoying cooking again because it all tastes so amazing. Cute little quirks in some of the shapes which is fun and doesn’t have any negative effects. Show reply

Absolutely happy with my first box and can’t wait for the next. Customer service is also above and abyeon. Show reply
We absolutely love our Farmers Pic boxes. It’s like a surprise package that encourages you to make meals you haven’t thought of or made for years. The flavour and freshness of everything received is next level and gives me confidence that I’m taking extra care of my body with fresh produce as opposed to produce sitting in cool rooms for months… Read more · 1
that then go off quickly when you get them home. This does not happen with Farmers Pic and the freshness lasts for days to weeks depending on the veg. I’m never going back to super market fruit and veg again. Keen to try the meats next.
Most of the fruits tasted fresh and great, however, mangoes were too ripe and of waste. They were stored at the bottom of the box which made them squeezed and spoilt. In the second order, arrival time was confusing, kept on delaying. More accurate timing would help. Show reply
Absolutely love my farmers pick box that arrives each week overflowing with quality fruit and vegetables. The medium box has exceeded all expectations! A fantastic variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Show reply

Perfectly nutritious fresh produce delivered on time with friendly communications throughout. Huge savings on supermarket prices. What a disgrace it ends up dumped based on ridiculous supermarket criteria. Show 2 replies
Follow-up · What's 'ridiculous supermarket criteria'? Research results reveal that despite Australian supermarkets’ zero food waste targets, large volumes of food are discarded. At a time when people globally experience hunger, as much as 50% of all food produced is thrown away every year. One of the main reasons cited for excessive food waste was strict… Read more
I ordered a $190 worth of goods on Thursday meat veggies fruit meat. Then on Friday I get a confirmation for $142 dollars less the fruit and pantry items and they charged me over $13 dollars for the delivery. I sent them an email they said one order… Read more
was ordered Thursday and a smaller order was placed Friday (no they direct debited it as a subscription) when the first box was already ordered. they refunded the 142 took 3 days to get my money back. Then I said the invoice was missing dog treats fruit pack etc and I had been charged freight after placing a large order. they refunded the fruit pack and not the delivery. My order arrives didn't even knock no meat or milk I purchased around one hundred dollars of refrigerated goods that were not delivered. You can't call them they emailed saying they would look into it. If I get a refund then I am going to have to wait to get the money back and try and go shopping. First and last order do not deal with them. My fruit was squashed and split. I though I was giving Aussie farmers a help out. It is too expensive and too many headaches to deal with them I would have given them less stars if I could. No invoice issued.
Follow-up · They replaced the missing box of meat. They didn't refund the delivery fee after they stuffed up the order and I had originally ordered enough for free delivery. I feel the delivery fee was over the top. It is too hard to deal with them. They tried to offer a discount for the next order. I got an email saying the next order was coming I emailed… Read more

Follow-up · I am still purchasing Farmers Pick fruit, vegetables and meat a year later. Have used everything in the box. Fruit and vegetables are always fresh and the meat is second to none for taste. I still love to receive my box of goodies every fortnight and its a highlight for my young grandchildren to open the box and sort through naming all the fruits and vegetables and helping to put in the fridge. Thank you for such an awesome service

We were really happy with our first vegie box, and will add fruit to the next order. Mikko was pro-active in resolving a missing item, even before we'd noticed. I love the premise of what Farmers Pick doing in terms of supporting producers and reducing food waste. Execution seems great so far as well, nice one. Show reply
I was still going through my 2 person box which was very generous so for the next one downsized. Again a wonderful selection of fruit and vegetables. I’m a convert. Love my farmers pick !! Show reply
Negative reviews
Bad delivery letting down good product and great mission. The last two deliveries have been left outside our gate on the footpath. We raised it with FP after the first time together with the fact it was quite clear based on the condition of the produce that it had been "out for delivery" for a while. They comped us $20. This appears to be a new… Read more

These guys started great but rapidly lost their standing . Last lot of veggies & many prior became smaller in volume each time , rotten potato in one box not pleasant and hard to understand how it could have got in there. Veggies of poor quality and random things you couldn’t use . Had a lettuce smaller than my hand which wouldn’t even be a salad… Read more
for two people , threw out a full bag of Brussel sprouts that were so tough you couldn’t cut through stems easily ! Price increased without my consent after a month or so of subscription making it expensive . If the quality was there would have persevered but become well below supermarket standards … wow ! No contact no Phone number so Emailed and had no response this time , a refund would be least of fixing the issue . This was my second subscription stopped previously as orders for meat when weighed were under weight by 100gms or more . Very disappointed and would not recommend anymore .

Whilst I'm keen to support farmers and turn away from companies like Coles and Woolworths, what turned me off of this service was the subscriptions. don't seem to consider, whilst their produce might be cheaper their focus is still on revenue, same as Coles and Woolworths. If you're not on top of managing your subscriptions you'll find you'll be spending more money, unnecessarily.

Please see the pineapple below. This is a genuine hygiene issue, not a minor quality concern. The fruit is clearly old and in such poor condition that it looks like it has been used as a football in a warehouse. This is well beyond a bruised apple or a dropped watermelon and is completely unacceptable. As a result, I will be cancelling my orders… Read more

I will also be reporting this issue, as customers should not be receiving produce in this condition.
