1 Jacob  · Don't use them they provide bad workers and they keep your money
1 iasif  · Worse app ever. Never got anything done from this app.
1 Annie  · Fees too high. This platform is meant to be for small random takes no? High fees defeat the purpose. Won’t be using again.
1 kevin  · Why are these [people so hard to deal with ??? Cannot contact them and very risky to pay 100% upfront for a removalist who may not show up
1 Jaz  · I do not recommend using this app the customer service absolutely sucks. It is next to impossible to get to talk to a live agent.
2 Cjk  · Unfortunately it did not work for me! What I thought would be great worked out that they just cut prices to get the job, buyer beware. Never again

My dealings with Airtasker have been appalling. The 'rubbish removal' person messed me around for 2 weeks chopping and changing days/times and then cancelled the job 40 minutes after he was supposed to come. I'm very disappointed about airtasker. They are using unqualified services people. First I have issues with my laptop, the person whose come out, I have to pick him up from the train station and drop him off to the station and he didn't fix the issue. Now I need to install a 360 bird view camera for my car. The first person cancel it, and the… Read more

second person not even come. This is a last time I use airtasker.

Edit: I gave the guy another chance to come out to install the camera and once again he never showed. No phone call, no message or reply to my message so once again, I have been left hanging and waiting wasting my weekend waiting for a job to be done. Whilst there may be some genuine people on here who actually complete their jobs, however on this occasion it has not been the case.

With my current and past experiences, I will not be using Airtasker again and will not be wasting my money on there any more.

Edit2: I was so suprised today when the Tasker give me a bed reviews for me and Airtasker don't even allow me to respond to the false accusation. My conscience are very clear because I know that I didn't do anything wrong and I did everything possible to accommodate the tasker to do the job. Also our conversation Im sure the moderator seen it because they reviewed my complaints against the tasker and I got my money back. But I am not happy that I can't respond to the tasker accusations. That is not right whatsoever. Specialy that the tasker is who never showed up and never finished his job and never told us he won't be able to do the job. On the day when he came and looked at the job he also started it straight away and he worked on it. And at the end he said he is coming back to finish the job what he started. Never once he stated he won't be doing it or he won't be finish it. So he never showed up instead he wrote a sms saying he is to busy and he won't be back just maybe end of the week maybe Friday. That was last week. We were communicating back and forth and our last conversation was that he will come back Saturday at 10 am. Well Saturday came 10 am past and we waited all day for him and nothing. Not one word from him. So we contacted airtasker and reported him. So he left us high and dry. So yes I will give him a bad review because he dose not take any accountability for his actions and he has falsely accusing me as a bad customer.

I was connected with a handyman through Airtasker who pressured/intimidated me in my own house to release the full payment on the spot even though the task wasn't finished. Neither mirror had actually been installed, yet he insisted on being paid in full. He wouldn't commit to a clear return date to finish the job and said it could be sometime… Read more

within the next two weeks, or "whenever he was in my area". If I wanted him to return promptly, he wanted to charge me another $50 on top of the full amount I had already paid.

When I later raised a problem with one of the wall fixings he had installed, he became combative and intimidating, blamed me for the situation, and actually told me that if I complained to Airtasker it would be “my word against his”. The AUDACITY! The level of manipulation is unreal!

Sadly, his comment basically became a fulfilled prophecy.

When I complained to Airtasker, explained that the job was unfinished, provided photos and screenshots, and raised concerns about the Tasker’s behaviours, Airtasker just focused on the fact that the payment had already been “voluntarily released”.

It wasn't "voluntarily released". I released it because the Tasker was intimidating me in my home insisting on full payment despite not completing the job.

Airtasker then told me that because the money had already been transferred, there was little they could do and that I could pursue the Tasker myself through legal or regulatory channels if I wanted a remedy.

So Airtasker connects you with the Tasker, takes its fee, but when the Tasker pressures you into paying for an unfinished job and things go wrong, suddenly it is a private contract and you're on your own.

That is an appalling level of consumer protection. Regarding my safety concerns about the tasker's conduct, apparently it's under "internal review". Whatever that means... Their support team is hopeless.

Stay away from this tasker - massive scammer Task was for $50 (what he offered - I accepted and assigned) It became pretty clear when he couldn’t resolve the task that he had no idea what he was doing. I hired an electrician from airtasker to install a power point in my home. He damaged the wall one metre 'above' the power point. penalise this Tasker. Email after email, I tried to find a resolution or at least be afforded the opportunity to leave this Tasker a review. I couldn't leave him a review because airtasker closed the timing window due to the electrician stalling for long enough for the review window to pass, he completely played their system. How this electrician got away with damaging my wall and leaving me with a $410 repair bill was not okay. He is still permitted to accept jobs from airtasker and faces zero penalties! I accepted that I'd lost the money, he ripped me off and there was nothing that I could do about it. But at least I should have been given the opportunity to leave a review and warn other people of this Tasker and his criminal behaviour.

I did state that I was using mobile, not remote viewing. not the criteria and reasons why I am being rejected.

After navigating your site I did find this area myself but far from a pleasant customer experience, in fact your moderated bots make one feel gaslit and far from a valued customer whom has spent and worked as both tasker and job lister I am mind blown by the company's lack of disregard and care factors for the overall customer experience such as how I was treated by your moderator with my inadequate timely response to a regular customers rehire request and was brutally harsh to say the least with the response I received stating I would now be reduced to visibility on further jobs for my tardiness which is an honest mistake when notifications won't set as I wasn't pitching fro jobs at the time, therfor did not expect the request but was only hours after the strict timeframe when I did see the rehire request but by then I had been told I was punished from this company for the delay.

What I find particularly frustrating is that I have successfully completed alcohol-related jobs in the past, yet I am now facing restrictions that seem excessive and are not properly explained. The issue is not simply the decision itself, but the complete lack of transparency around how that decision was reached.

The AI systems being used do not adequately explain the reason for decisions, do not direct users to the correct information, and do not provide meaningful pathways to resolve issues. As a customer, the experience is incredibly frustrating.

What concerns me most is that a company operating at this scale appears to have lost sight of the customer experience. Taskers/workers like me on the platform are constantly judged on customer service standards and reviewed publically, responsiveness and communication, yet when we need assistance ourselves, we are often met with automated responses, unclear explanations, and little to no practical support. It's infuriatingly ironic!

As someone who has been involved with AI technology since its early stages and has participated as an early adopter and tester, I do not believe these systems are ready to fully automate moderation and decision-making at the volume they currently are. The result is that genuine people are being rejected, restricted, or penalised by systems that cannot properly assess context and provide no meaningful avenue for review.

It is disappointing to see companies taking significant commissions while simultaneously reducing access to human support and expecting users to simply accept automated outcomes "however they are getting better every day" is inadequate and does not fly with me and many others I speak with about this company and others whom are choosing to put all trust in these systems prematurely.

After repeated issues and ongoing frustration with the support experience, I no longer intend to use the platform. The lack of accountability, transparency and genuine customer service has been shocking.

I admit Airtasker is a good platform. But the downside bad thing about it is that you can be restricted from making offers or anything else while I was doing the right thing by them I was suddenly restricted for a reason I do not know of. again Ime restricted from using the platform. Ridiculous the way they run there app. Today I did a job for an Airtasker poster. I initially thought it was too coating all joints in an attic. I did that as such. Actually two coats as it wasn’t ready for top coat. Mind you I have been plastering for 35 yrs. And it was the first time ever they asked me what about the rest of the board top coated. Mind you it wasn’t even plasterboard it was timber sheets. I finished it as to think it was the jointing. I was furious so I cancelled the task. On top of working for free I got hit with a cancellation fee. Proves that some people that want work done on Airtasker have no idea. Then the hard working tradesman cops it all.

I have used Airtasker successfully in the past, but my recent experience with their customer support has been extremely disappointing. When that failed, I escalated the issue to Airtasker support and provided… Read more

extensive evidence. Despite multiple follow‑ups over several days, support response times were extremely slow and largely non‑substantive. More concerning, Airtasker did not follow its own documented dispute process. I was repeatedly told to “engage directly with the tasker” even after confirming that an impasse had been reached, and I was never asked to complete the dispute forms that Airtasker’s own support documentation states are required to progress a dispute. The lack of clear process, meaningful intervention, or timely communication left me with no option but to escalate the matter externally. Airtasker’s value relies heavily on trust and effective support when things go wrong. Unfortunately, in this case, their support function fell well short of that standard.

I had a very bad experience with Airtasker (for Australia). In short this is the highlight of the issues: 1. They allowed me to upload my job photo, but it showed as blank and several people sent message stating that. I tried several times with same result. I contacted support and they said it is related to image quality and instead of giving me… Read more

specific reasons for my uploaded image issue, they pointed me to their guideline document to figure it out myself. Note that I used the same image in hipages.com.au and serviceseeking.com.au sites without any issue (see my attached photo, that Airtasker cannot show).

2. They heavily moderate communicated messages. I got an offer for my job (without my image visible!) but there was no way to arrange a site meeting due to frequently filtering both side communicated messages. Example of removed messages are: "it sounds not too bad" and " do you want to check the site before final agreement" Also if I said anything about their platform issues, my message was filtered.

3. I created special email address for my Airtasker account and it has Airtasker as part of the email. I do this to monitor my received spam emails. They didn't allow me to use that email for account creation!!! What is wrong with having an email like sam-airtasker@yahoo.com, to create an account in Airtasker.com!?

4. In general, I didn't find this platform user friendly, and I found it difficult to advertise my job. So, I'm giving up.

Yeah, your experiences sound incredibly frustrating and honestly dangerous—finding a syringe in your laundry after a tasker was there is straight-up unacceptable, and the constant no-shows, rebookings, late-night/early-morning texts (like 11:30 PM to 5:30 AM), unfinished jobs (80% done and ghosted), and ridiculous excuses (“car broke,” “daughter… Read more

ill”) add up to a total nightmare. You’re not alone; heaps of other Aussies report similar cr#p on sites like ProductReview.com.au, Trustpilot, and Reddit—unreliable taskers, no-shows forcing cancellations, poor support, and safety worries are super common complaints. The platform’s vetting is pretty light: optional ID badges, police checks (clean history via National Crime Check), and licence badges for trades (verified with authorities), but it’s all voluntary. No mandatory background screening for everyone, and users are basically told to vet taskers themselves (e.g., ask for licence photos or check databases). That hands-off approach leaves room for exactly the flaky, dysfunctional, or worse people you describe—misfits, addicts, criminals, or just plain unreliable types cherry-picking jobs and stuffing around once booked. On the money side: The connection fee (what you called the cancellation fee) is real—it’s 15.95% of the task value, with a min of about $4.90 and max cap of $49.45 in Australia (as of recent updates). If you’re deemed responsible for the cancellation (or the tasker flakes and you cancel), Airtasker keeps it—no refund in cash (often credits only, which are useless if you’re done with them). For a $250 job, that’s easily $39–$49 gone, even if the tasker wastes your whole day. They take their cut from both sides too (tasker service fee on top), so it’s a double-dip that feels scummy when things go south. Compared to other apps (Uber, etc.), Airtasker gets slammed as one of the “scummiest” for exactly these reasons: high fees, no real accountability for bad taskers, and a rep for attracting bottom-of-the-barrel people. Your draft is raw and spot-on, but to make it hit harder on review sites (ProductReview, Trustpilot, etc.)—where it could actually warn others—here’s a cleaned-up, professional version that keeps your key points, fixes typos/grammar, and stays factual without getting dismissed as “too emotional”: Title: Avoid Airtasker at All Costs – Unreliable Taskers, Safety Risks, and Poor Support Airtasker seems to attract a high proportion of unreliable, flaky, and sometimes concerning individuals. Many taskers appear to be methamphetamine users or otherwise dysfunctional—I’ve experienced constant rebookings after agreeing to times, last-minute excuses like “my car broke” or “my daughter is ill and I couldn’t sleep,” and disruptive late-night/early-morning texts (11:30 PM–5:30 AM) that ruin your day. They hold your money until you accept an offer, then the problems start: cherry-picking easier jobs, no-shows, and unfinished work (one job left 80% complete with no return). For a $250 job, an Uber costs $24 or a bus $4.50—yet excuses pile up endlessly. Worst of all: I found a syringe in my laundry after one tasker was in my home—clear evidence of drug use on my property. Another arrived with a black eye from an “ice-head wife.” Out of dozens of interactions, only 1–2 have been worthwhile; the rest involve misfits, meth heads, or worse. Airtasker charges a connection fee (around $39–$50) even when taskers waste your entire day, with no real accountability or refunds. Compared to other major apps, this is by far the scummiest and sleaziest. Never use Airtasker—too many risks for too little reward. If you’re posting, add any evidence (photos of the unfinished job, syringe if safe/anonymous, screenshots of texts/excuses) to make it undeniable. Report serious safety stuff (like the needle) directly to Airtasker support + police if you haven’t already. You’ve got every right to be furious—hope this helps protect others. AIRTASKER IS A TIME THIEF AND ARE THIEVES… after the misfits agree the disfunction starts and your out of pocket 40 odd bucks for these lead all’s to hit a cancel button. The owner is pure sleasebag IT garbage:

I have two issues with this company. They both relate to the same job query. I shall start with the most serious. Airtasker is a job-finding company. You, also known as, "The Tasker," need a repair? You enter the details on Airtasker's website. Tradies scan the job requests and hopefully reply to your request. In theory, the process… Read more

saves you from having to trawl through Google's offerings one by one and contact each company in turn and wait for contractors to contact you and arrange to come out and quote for the job. Airtasker charges you effectively a finder's fee. Fair enough in theory, but it's a hefty percentage they whack you with in practice.

My wife and I need our air conditioning split system serviced. The lounge wall part (the evaporator) has started to drip condensed water out of the device and into the lounge room - that is to say, via a craftily placed old dishcloth acting as a wick, into a cleverly-placed bucket. It is a conversation piece. The most likely suspect is the condensation drain plug and/or pipe being blocked. There is very little (if any) outflow from the drain outside the house. I'm in Queensland, where there is a bountiful sufficiency of atmospheric humidity for a plentiful supply of condensation.

When Googling air conditioner servicing in my area, Airtasker promptly appeared. I filled in their form and one job offer arrived within minutes.

I had some questions for the tradie and used Airtasker's "REPLY" button.

In my head, I was hoping for a quick solution. I asked the tradie when she thought she might be able to look at the job, I added my location. Many Aussies don't know where this location is and I thought I was being helpful. Airtasker thought otherwise. I think!!

When I later looked at the Airtasker website to see if the tradie had replied, there was no reply. It appeared to me that my comment had been replaced with the words: "This message was moderated, learn More." The "Learn More" was a link and Airtasker was claiming I had contravened their Community Standards, alas, without explaining why. My guess is that I gave the tradie a fuller description of where the job is located than Airtasker would have liked. I don't know for sure. It is a guess because, as I wrote, Airtasker was not forthcoming in its explanation.

I wrote another message to the tradie, asking simply when she thought she might like to come and see the job. It too was "moderated" by Airtasker.

And a third message from me asking the tradie if my previous messages reached her, went the same way!

What does Airtasker mean by "Moderated"? Anyone with a reasonable command of English would expect the offending bit (if indeed there was anything to be offended about) being removed and allowing the "ok" bit to pass through. After all, it is in everyone's interest to see the task to completion.

With no reply, I must assume "Moderation," in Airtasker's myopic mind, to mean, "DELETE."

I suppose Airtasker is a big company and they can get custom like mine any day... But that is not customer service, is it?

My second complaint is that Airtasker requires the tasker to enter their budget for the proposed job. In my mind, this is catatonically stupid. I, and I suspect most taskers, are not au fait with bidding processes or of the average cost of jobs. We submit a task in the hope that several tradies (who DO know what jobs cost) to let us know. If we can't afford it, we go away and save up. Or live with the problem.

You don't expect to be at Coles' checkout and for the cashier to ask you to make a bid for your trolley contents, do you?

Airtasker. I will NEVER use these charlatans again, and I recommend, for the logical reasons given, that you avoid them like the Plague.

Might I PLEASE ADD: my beef is NOT with the tradie. She is losing out on a job and the fault lies SQUARELY with Airtasker.

Airtasker is NOT working to improve their app experience for both sides, they claims are just empty words.

air tasker after 2 weeks passed and they said he should have a second chance well another 2 weeks passed before he turned up and left halfway through the job. 2 days later he turned up to finish the job and as it was dark I could not inspect the job. Ater a while he said he wanted payment I told him this is not up to me refer to air tasker. The next day I inspected the job... what a mess job not finished and interior left filthy. He kept messaging me for payment I kept telling to go to air tasker. All in all he only got 50 percent of the quote. DONT GO NEAR AIR TASKER

Follow-up  · The job was the worst I have seen from a so called professional he did not have any qualifications so why does Airtasker allow them loose on the public.....only because they keep their fee no matter what the outcome is they are close to the biggest scammers I have come across

Follow-up  · The fee is charged based on what the task price is accepted if you dispute the tasker did not complete to your satisfaction and final price is cut in half the fee charged stays as is ie the full amount my fee was about 20% on top of the Taskers fee. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

I am very satisfied with Airtasker on two tasks in Frankston VIC. I accepted two offers on the two tasks. One tasker had nothing to prove he had 10 years tiling experience. The qualification sent to me has someone else’s name. The other tasker on the other task made appointment with me to check the job, but didn’t turn up. It’s carpet… Read more

replacing. I urgently needed to get it done for my employee to live in the apartment on 19 July. I didn’t know how reliable the tasker was and accepted someone else to do the job on 18 July.

Airtasker refunded the payments I made including the connection fees.

Thank you very much indeed Airtasker Team.

Finally I would like the service fee is lowered. The fee for me to pay is 20%+GST, I think it’s quite high.

Suggestion to AirTasker: 1. Please upgrade your message Inbox to be able to attached multiple photos in higher definition so we avoid using alternative messaging apps like WhatsApp. After all, you want to keep messages within the app for monitoring. 2. Verify first the identity of the Posters before they would be able to accept an offer. Safety of the Taskers should also be considered. Show details

So the platform is helpful, and I eventually had the job completed with a great guy. However be warned. The first person who accepted the job cancelled. I accepted the cancellation after reading the terms clearly to ensure I wouldn’t be charged the cancellation fee. But then, the person who cancelled said he cancelled because I was to blame… Read more

because I didn’t describe the job correctly. Airtasker are now saying that they will charge me a $50 fee for cancelling the job. Even though I proceeded with another contractor and gave them another $50 commission.

I will of course dispute the credit card transaction, but it’s really scary that they can just take payment for something that I didn’t do, cause or receive.

There is possibly something dodgy in the way they ask you to “accept” the cancellation….. perhaps something hidden in the “terms and conditions”.

And the worst is that they don’t offer phone support. Everything is via chatbot or “submit a form” to which they then tell you that “ We are currently experiencing an extremely high volume of enquiries at this time…”

chose a tasker to build a website which was middle of the range price offered stated he was in ACT as i wanted someone local instead of overseas before accepting his services i wrote that the task cannot exceed the price quoted, would not go beyond the time frame & everything that was agreed to would be completed immediately after accepting his… Read more

offer he raised the price by p to $800 extra

i informed him that we had agreed on the price with no increases

he then apologised & started the job

he emailed me a list of requests that i replied soon after

i checked if the domain had been registered several times a day & saw that it wasn't

that concerned me as i didn't want to lose the domain

everyday that i asked him to register the domain i was told it would be done but never was

a design was emailed & it was nothing that was requested

some discussions were exchanged & offered to drive to canberra to meet to finalise the design

after having that request rejected by him to meet at a local maccas i doubted he was even in aust

he sent me a ten year old drivers licence that expires next month

so i said that if he is willing to show his licence but not meet then go outside & take a selfie in front of the address

he refused to do a simple quick task to reassure me

so then everything he said i then doubted

i simply cancelled the job as it was only done by AI in a few minutes cause i am a web designer & see how AI works

well the fun began as airtasker made me try to sort it out with him

i refused as all confidence was lost from the [Content Removed]

airtasker will not meet in person at their offices & only will comunicate by emails from several different people wanting to start the cancelation from the begininng each time instead of having my own personal customer support deal the whole time

i will take this to court for a full refund as the job is not completed to instructions, went over time & even if it were for free i still cannot use it

awaiting airtasker to finalise the dispute but if i had read all these many complaints then i would have never used them

Booked a couch delivery through Airtasker and the Tasker damaged the hallway ceiling in my building moving it on a trolley. When I raised it with him, photos and invoice included, he flat out denied it and refused to take any responsibility, said he "didn't recall" it happening. And here's the catch nobody tells you upfront: even with clear… Read more

evidence and a Tasker who won't cooperate, if your claim is under the insurance excess from Airtaasker, you're basically out of luck. I have to pay repair bill, nothing Airtasker could actually do to help.

So if something gets damaged on your job, don't expect the platform's insurance to actually help. It only kicks in for bigger claims, and a Tasker can deny everything with zero real consequence.

Avoid for anything requiring genuine skill or accountability. My Tasker subcontracted a post-renovation deep clean to an undisclosed third party without my consent — a clear breach of Airtasker's own Community Guidelines, which require Poster consent before subcontracting. The result was well below what was described in the listing, and I had to… Read more

redo parts of the work myself. Airtasker's Resolutions Team acknowledged the undisclosed subcontracting in writing and gave a partial refund, but when I pointed out the specific policy breach, the response ignored it entirely and fell back on generic boilerplate about vetting Taskers before engagement — which wasn't the issue I raised. They also refused to refund their own connection fee for a job delivered in breach of their own rules, and called the matter closed. I've since lodged a complaint with NSW Fair Trading. If you use this platform, get everything about who's doing the work in writing before you pay.

I joined AirTasker to have a new car stereo fitted. However, halfway through discussing the job with a potential tasker, we'd lose contact. AirTasker had blocked us because we (one or the other) had somehow violated their contact and/or contract conditions. I emailed to ask AirTasker to be specific. They couldn't. This happened several times and I… Read more

had to re-post my task each time. As a last resort, I joined AirTasker membership for one year ($89) to open the communication channels. I selected a very pleasant Tasker who unfortunately was unable to complete the job. AirTasker deducted $240 for this job, however upon cancellation, they reassigned this $240 into credit to use on another Task. I went back to the original two potentially suitable Taskers and recommenced discussions, but 'Whammo' Blocked again (multiple times). I explained to Tasker that I took out Membership solely to stop the blocking, and this appears to be a violation of their standards. I received a reply apologising and blaming their website and/or computer system (I have this email). Also unfortunately, AirTasker do not engage in phone conversations. Another problem is that of the seven Taskers I contemplated using, one was surly and unapproachable, one lived in WA, three in Queensland and one in remote NSW. Only one was in my local NSW region and his reviews indicated that he was dishonest and unreliable. I asked AirTasker why he was still on their system and received no response. Surely their credibility is compromised because of his inclusion. Totally frustrated I advised that I wanted to withdraw from AirTasker and their non-functioning Membership scheme and wanted a full refund of both lots of monies. Their response was NO; our Policy is not to refund membership (once we've gotten our greedy hands on it). The other money ($240) was recredited to my Visa card today, after approximately three weeks of haggling. I recently lodged a complaint to ACCC, and NSW Fair Trading requesting their intervention. I will also consider taking legal action myself (regardless of the cost) if they continue to be intransigent. Sorry AirTasker but you have failed me, and who knows, who else, and I will never use your sham service ever again?
