Morgan Sipe, set the tone right from the start. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and never once pushy. After visiting other builders who tried to pressure us with FOMO tactics, it was refreshing to meet someone who simply listened, guided, and helped us make confident decisions at our own pace. During the administration stage, our Contracts Administrator, Monique Kenyon, was an absolute star. She handled every detail with professionalism and was consistently prompt with her responses. Knowing we could rely on her made the whole process feel smooth and stress‑free.
Then came the fun part — pre‑start! Choosing all the finishes and furnishings for our home was such an enjoyable experience, thanks to Phoebe Costigan. She was brilliant to work with: professional, patient, and incredibly helpful with our design requests. The quality of the fixtures, cabinetry, tiles, and overall selections exceeded our expectations. Dela Vita products are top‑notch — we even loved them so much that we purchased extra towel rails directly from their warehouse.
Once construction began, our Client Liaison Officers, Tia Mitchell and Niamh Maher, continued that same level of care. They were reliable, responsive, and always happy to help with any questions we had. Home Group clearly run a tight ship — trades and materials were lined up and ready to go, and once the slab went down, the build progressed quickly and efficiently.

As we progressed, we were transferred from department to department, and the rep from each department was amazing.
Cara Burton was our prestart consultant, had the patience of a saint! She was knowledgeable about the products, and quick to reply to our emails, answering our tons of questions, and making we felt comfortable with all our selections before finalising everything.
After prestart, Maddi Pitcher took over for the construction stage. She’s a rockstar! Maddi deserves all the praise one could give! Her promptness, her organisation and problem-solving skills were incredible, especially during the final mad dash toward handover. She genuinely cared, and made everything seem effortless although we’re sure it was anything but. We struck gold having her as our client liaison!
Our site supervisor David dos Santos also deserves high praise! He was thorough and proactive. It shows when someone takes pride in what they do.
We also appreciate how responsive Lynn from the maintenance team has been when attending to minor outstanding issues. Great to know they have the same level of care post handover.

One area we feel could be improved is the pre-start meeting and documentation, to ensure selections and requests are clearly understood and accurately recorded so nothing is missed or misworded.

fantastic in helping us draft and modify our selected floorplan to perfectly suit our needs wherever he could. Color Selection: The design and selection process was very helpful. It made it easy for us to decide which upgrades we really wanted while still ensuring everything fit within our budget. The Build Phase: We used a private building inspector, and our site supervisor was great at acknowledging and promptly fixing the issues that were raised in the reports. Quality: The items, equipment, and overall finishings used throughout the house are of a very high quality and look fantastic. While we are thrilled with the final result, there are a couple of areas where Home Group could improve their process: Communication: The Customer Portal has potential, but it could be made much more useful and efficient for handling general communications and scheduling appointments. Handover/PCI Delay: Towards the very end of construction, we were not readily given a Practical Completion Inspection (PCI) date, even after waiting a month past the "Final Clean" stage. As a result of the house sitting idle for that long, there was a lot of dirt and dust built up around the house (in the showers, kitchen, on tabletops, etc.) by the time we got in. Despite the delay at the end and the dust, the final product is exactly what we wanted. The build quality really speaks for itself, and we are very happy to finally be living in our new home!

⭐ 1/5 – Pathetic After-Sales Service – Ongoing Since May 2026 I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with Home Group’s after-sales and maintenance service. This issue has been going on since **May 2026**. We have already had **THREE inspections** at our property, and yet Home Group now wants to arrange another inspection. How many inspections… Read more
does it take before someone actually takes responsibility and fixes the problem? What were the previous three inspections for if, months later, we are still at the same point? We have serious cracking in our home. People have attended, inspected it, made promises and told us things would be followed up, but we are still waiting for meaningful action. Phone calls are promised but don't happen. We constantly have to chase for updates. Every time we expect something to finally be done, it seems to turn into another inspection, another delay and another excuse. The most disturbing part is that this has now become a **health and safety issue for my family**. A piece from the affected area fell, and my **one-year-old daughter put it in her mouth, resulting in us having to attend the Emergency Department**. What more needs to happen before this is treated as urgent? We have a young family living in this house. We should not have to keep worrying about pieces falling while Home Group continues arranging more assessments instead of giving us a clear rectification plan. Since **May 2026 – three inspections, months of waiting, repeated follow-ups, promised phone calls, and still no proper resolution.** We are not asking for anything unreasonable. We simply want our home to be safe and the defects properly investigated and rectified within a reasonable timeframe. The after-Handover communication has been pathetic. There appears to be no urgency, no ownership and no proper escalation despite us clearly explaining the safety concerns. Home Group was happy to build and hand over the house, but the real test of a builder is how they look after their customers when something goes wrong after handover. Based on our experience, the after-sales service has been extremely disappointing. **Stop sending people just to look at the same problem again and again. Give us a proper answer, a proper timeframe and actually fix the issue.**
If this is the standard of after-Handover service being provided to homeowners, then honestly, God help us and anyone building with you guys.

So many Volume builders out there and they promise you heaven and earth and then when you go through with the deal, you realise you have gotten yourself into an unfair deal.
But Pankaj with his level of expertise and transparency was a breath of fresh air. My first meeting impression was, 1)Transparency First: Pankaj walked me through with complete honesty. "No hidden costs or vague answers".
2)Clear Points of Difference: He gave a clear, structured breakdown of why Home Group stands out against other Victorian bulk builders, particularly around premium inclusions, structural standards, and design flexibility.
3)No Pressure Approach: He took the time to understand our goals and tailored the consultation around what I actually needed, rather than forcing a standard package.

As we are downsizing, it was important to us that our new home was carefully designed around our specific lifestyle, needs and priorities. Raj took the time to understand our requirements and worked closely with us to develop a custom design that genuinely reflected what we were looking for. The attention given to our individual requirements gave us confidence that our needs as clients were being properly understood and considered.
The quotation process was also very professional. This made it much easier for us to understand the costs, compare options and make informed decisions within our budget.
Going through the house plans was equally straightforward. Raj took the time to walk us through the plans in detail, explain the design considerations and make sure we were comfortable with every aspect of the proposed home. His patience, attention to detail and willingness to listen made a significant difference to the overall experience.
We have now signed our Preliminary Agreement and are extremely pleased with how everything has progressed to this point. The professionalism and level of service we have experienced during the pre-sales and design stages have given us confidence as we move forward.

Our experience with Home Group Victoria has been extremely disappointing. Communication and accountability have been ongoing issues throughout our build. We paid for brick infills that were later changed to timber and then had to repeatedly follow up regarding the associated credit/refund.
We have also raised concerns about what we consider to be substandard workmanship, including issues with windows, hinges, door stops and poor silicone finishes.
Our bathroom plumbing required rectification during construction, and we were disappointed with the lack of communication about what needed to be fixed, what work was being undertaken and when it would be completed.
We have also experienced disputes regarding costs and variations and have received contractual documents to sign without adequate explanation.
Many issues have required repeated follow-up from us rather than being proactively communicated and resolved.
Having our own independent building inspector has been invaluable. Based on our experience, I strongly recommend anyone building with Home Group engage an independent inspector, photograph each stage and keep all communication in writing.
Firstly, I didn’t originally sign up with them. I saw an ad by their sales rep (initial AT; they have their own website) about house & land package and decided to reach out. He has the specific land on ads and that’s the land I currently own & build. As usual, sales process was all sweet, smooth, all the good things you can think of. Until … You… Read more
legally signed for them and paid initial deposit for drawing! I paid $4k for just ‘drawing’. 4-5 weeks after ‘drawing’ then you finally get to see your building contract.
Overall, administration progress wasn’t good AT ALL in my experience. It took me in total of 5.5 months from initial ‘drawing’ payment until they actually get on the site. 5.5 months? You think that’s long? Nope. I had to actually send them a written email to say I will cancel the contract if they didn’t get on site within 5 weeks (back in Feb 2026) because they didn’t abide by the clause of getting building permit within 60 days of building contract signed. I actually thought of getting another builder and had receiving quotes.
Anyway, my colour appointment was done 2 months after I signed building contract (3 months after ‘drawing’ payment paid). I came fully prepared with my appointment, have done my selections on their portal so everything went smooth. Except.. they did not AT ALL inform me about ‘tile inserter’. This is really annoyed me until now. Not by face-to-face, not on the portal, nada. I only know this is available after my construction has started. And when I asked my construction liaison at that time (initial = FT), she just said ‘this should be requested at colour appointment’. Nobody told me this! Why am I annoyed? Because they have floor waste on both my bathroom and ensuite! Who does want a hole (that looks so obvious) in the middle of the room? Anyway I spent for almost $20k on my colour appointment. (Also, who put 1 x 13w light in a regular size bedroom? I had to spent lots of money on these extra lights!). This was due to be paid right before construction started they claimed. At that time I didn’t know when this will actually start and I refused to pay before actually knowing when it will start. Why did I refuse? Because everyday my money stays in my offset account, this is interest reduction but nope Home Group didn’t care, they (my client liaison; initial = GB) only said that my file will not be moved to construction until I pay for this, when will the construction start? Only God knows! I have to send the money to them first just so my file would be transferred to construction and thus to know when my project start even though they said (at colour appointment) it was due to be paid RIGHT BEFORE CONSTRUCTION.
Oh, did I mention my sitecost increased by $22.5k? :) yes you read that right! I bought my land from their sales rep who has specifically mentioned about this land I bought but somehow it increased by $22,500? I felt doomed once I read this. When I asked exactly what I wrote here to them, what was their written answer? That every land is different!!! Well for sure if I didn’t choose the land from your own SALES REP! This didn’t look so bad for them because they removed my driveway & landscaping allowances so it looks like ‘it’s within the same price’. But I still have to do driveway and landscaping myself , don’t I ?!
Another issue happened was I had to use their chosen electricity & gas retailer. Excuse me, this is NOT written on the contract but somehow I have to follow what they want even though I HAVE TO PAY IT MYSELF! Not $50 or $100 but this is roughly $3k - $4k! And the retailer has confirmed builder get commission for this! Also not to forget in the building contract clearly mentions that there is $250/day fee if no utilities are connected because they have to hire generator. Home Group picked their own retailer, if something goes wrong, owner has to pay $250/day??! Is this crazy or am I just an id*ot! You read that right it is PER DAY! I feel like a total fool signing up with Home Group. Maybe in WA they are good, not in Vic.
The only good thing about them was they removed $1500 fee for engaging my own private inspector. Yup you have to pay $1500 just for getting private inspector that you actually pay yourself! For sure after $22,5k price increase $1500 is so good isn’t it, Home Group? =) Don’t forget issues that were raised by my private inspectors. Like regular builders, issues are still there. Home Group is not top of the range like I expected them to be.
I actually had to ring their office for the first time ever the other day because I wanted to know what is going on about the inspection report I sent them from my private inspector (whether defects would be rectified or if not, the reason). My site supervisor was on leave and my construction liaison at that time (initial = FT) DID NOT inform me and it was over 3 weeks. I only know about my site supervisor was on leave when I rang them! Communication with this liaison was not good at all. She took SO LONG to respond to my emails. I had to ‘threaten’ to write formal complaint to head office for her to take my emails and my inspection report seriously. Anyway, not long after my liaison was changed back to previous one. Couldn’t take complaint, could you? It was so quick for them to ask for invoice but my worries and questions were disregarded. Not as good as the reviews written here.
My house built has just passed lock up stage, is now on fixing stage I will write another review on my next stage or after completion. Hopefully things won’t be too bad.
Almost forget.. Lock up stage has been marked as completed and I’ve paid the invoice weeks ago but somehow my house doesn’t even have front door yet! Not even temporary construction door. Temporary fence is also left open on every weekend I visit to see the progress. It’s like they’re inviting strangers to come in and damage the house? Lock up means it’s supposed to be secured but somehow it is NOT.
Also, my house is fairly small not extravagant house but look how much it costs me. It’s still going for sure. Moreover, big probability both liaisons I have dealt with disregard my project because it’s a fairly small house so they did not care about giving best (at least good enough) customer experience. It is so sad if you look at someone’s worthiness from how much money they spent, don’t know if this person has wide connections to either bring you more clients or share bad experiences they had :)
Don’t forget they allow themselves 360 days for building. Other builders could finish regular size house within 5 months. I have to say I’m very disappointed from the start until now I wish I did more research.
At this point, dear Home Group, I couldn’t care less if you’re going to screw me up for writing this review because humans would most likely do that. How much more screw up could it be when it’s already at the lowest point possible.
P. S If something sounds subjective, it is based on my personal experience. Other than that, it is factual and there is evidence.

The sales process may look polished, but when problems arise, that polish means nothing. If you build with them, document absolutely everything because their internal process was not something we would trust again.
They might count this as a win at VCAT, but experiences like ours cost businesses far more over time than they realise.
