Really worthwhile and positive experience – First the solar panels were installed. Professional, knowledgeable and courteous installers. Arrived on time and they did an excellent job. My electricity bills went into CREDIT within the first quarter. I decided then that I would want to safeguard myself during power outages, which in this part of the world are frequent. installed. Again - installation went very smoothly, communication between the office - Olivia Platt and others was always efficient, and professional. The installer and electrician arrived on time. Their attitude was meticulous and professional. I was then given a run down on the performance of the equipment and how to access my on-line account. I could not be happier. The battery is charging quickly, it supplies me with electricity at night to run the heat pump, the lights and the power. Solar panels take over in the morning and ALL THE EXCESS energy produced goes BACK into the grid - for my benefit.

Had our 6.6kw system installed some time ago. Daniel explained everything in detail and Dallas was the installer. Everything was done quickly and professionally and they even installed an awning to help protect the inverter from the weather. Now that full sunny days are here, we are consistently feeding in more power than what we are purchasing. We are more than happy with Smart Energy Show details ·  1

simple, and everything happened within the timeframe I was given. The installation team was professional, polite and respectful of the property. The panels were installed quickly and the whole process was much easier than I expected.

Since having the solar system installed, it has been working reliably and I haven’t had any issues. It’s been great seeing the system working and helping reduce our electricity costs.

I’ve also been pleased with the customer service after installation. A special shout out to Grace who spent time going through the app and explaining how it works. Whenever I’ve had a question, the team has been helpful and responsive, which has given me confidence that I can get support if I need it.

Overall, it’s been a really positive experience with Smart Energy. Everyone I’ve dealt with, from the sales representative to the installation team and after-sales support, has been friendly and professional. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking at getting solar.

From the very first knock at the door by the Smart Energy rep I was impressed. Later that day Connor came and explained very clearly how a battery being installed would work for us. 10kw battery matches well with. The day before the installation Sebastian dropped by to check the site of installation. Both on time and was a pleasant young man. Brandon arrived on time and too was pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable. He then showed me how to use the app to see what our whole system was doing. It's so clear, accurate and I must say, I am a little obsessed with checking the app to see how we're doing power wise. Many days we are 95-98% totally self sufficient with the worst I think was 79% and that was in winter with 2 split a/c systems cranked up for hours on a cloudy day. Seeing the Origin bill over the next 3 months and beyond will be very interesting. John, the company owner came by for a while helping out too. Once again, a great bloke. I cannot speak more highly of the whole Smart Energy process. Even after the installation was completed I was contacted to see how everything went. Also Smart Energy put me in touch with a rep from Origin energy to change our plan to better suit our new solar/battery system wh8ch also was an easy process. Cheers to Smart Energy

Had a young kid turn up this morning, telling me I had a chance to recieve better power bill if I booked a "specialised member"of their team. Firstly, he had NO information about or clear information about how this was going to be achived when I asked him about if they where offering a cheaper kiloawatt price or how this was going to be achived. … Read more

He went on about installation of air cons, batteries, ev charge points, hot water pumps, solar panels. He didnt really know anything about the company, how installing any of these products would reduce my power bill or any vauleable information about the company, he was more instersted in booking an appointment for someone else to see me. For about 20 minutes he stagged his way through a speil he was unfarmailar with, couldn't asnwer any questions I aske about how this company was to provide a discount or what the process was to get a better cheaper power bill. Instead muttering something about, some other company would pay the bill and I would inturn pay them, thou no real inforamtion was given, nor do I think he new any information. Seems a layer marketing company, where a cold call would be given a small payment to book an appointment for a second sales person to come in and con you into buying something that would not save any money towards the power bill. From there pricing i.e on batteries (telsa) at 15k there are other business that intall these units at lower costs, and don't have issues with services/installations. Seems like a tiered marketing con, to sale you something that is not going to reduece anything, but increase costs as you must paying them on top of what is already charged by a power company. For a company to train cold calls, this guy had no idea of what he was selling let alone how this was going to reduce my current power bill. Seems just a very poor way of conning eldery people out of thousand of dollars for something that will make NO differnece to thier bottom line. I would completly give this company a wide berth.......

If I could give zero stars, I would. Stay away from this company!! it since my job is not constant but my concerns were dismissed with a patronising:: You can pay for it with all the savings on your power bill" and "You'll regret it if you don't sign up!". I found out later that ACCC took Smart Energy to Federal Court in 2013 about their aggressive door to door sales tactics. While Victoria has banned this method, NSW has not so they are still trapping people into debt. Their loans are not interest free and the savings on a power bill using a 5 kwh battery are minimal or non-existent. There was no choice of what size battery to get and I was definitely not planning to buy a battery that day. But, they decided it would be 5kwh. This is grossly inadequate size and another solar company told me later houses need at least 10kwh battery. When it works, it only lasts a short while after dark and then most of the power comes from the grid. This battery is a waste of money at almost $14,000 and inadequate size. This battery was never installed properly and did not work at all. Multiple complaints were answered with 'Do a reboot". That did not make any difference (and the warning labels clearly say Authorised Personnel Only)! Multiple requests to have this non-functioning battery removed were rejected even though it did not work and was a useless expensive liability. Only after 15 months (!!), did a technician come around to fix it after multiple emails forwarded from me from the battery manufacturer that the battery was not installed properly. Last month I got a local company to install another battery. This local company is worth 5 stars! No pressure to buy anything, time to research things and answered questions. For the same amount of money (this time interest-free loan unlike what smart energy uses), I got a battery that is twice as big (10 kwh), blackout switch and an extra 6 solar panels that work on overcast days. Tell Smart Energy door to door salespeople to take a hike and go local. I wish I had done that when they showed up unsollicited.

I had an ESS battery installed by Smart Energy in April (2026). The install was completed in one day and the battery has been working as intended ever since by carrying most of the load during the 'shoulder' periods. It has been a worthwhile addition to the previously installed solar panels. The ESS battery receives good ratings and I am pleased that this is the battery Smart Energy has provided. We Paid the deposit in mid November expecting to get the battery installed on the 2nd of December, only to be told they had no batteries, then told probably sometime in January, not actual date given then later told the 13th of February to be told no installer, then moved again to the 25th of February, we went the entire summer without the battery, I emailed and phoned Evelyn, Angela, Jordan and Mackenzie trying to get answers, with no luck, getting a full message bank account, or ignored my emails for weeks. We had solar power and battery installed in July 2025. When the door to door sales man asked what we value, we said communication. Right up until day of installation, communication was good. please look at Smart Energy Unanderra Google reviews. Hannah replied privately to both our Google reviews asking us to edit them and she would help us. But, we may edit the reviews in the same time frame it takes to fix the issue we are facing, so far 6 months. In September 2025, we noticed our battery wasn't working. After countless emails and phone calls and having to run our own diagnosis, they sent out a part which sat in our house for 2-3 months before someone finally came out and install it. From there, the installer said that it's still not working and he has talked to Smart Energy and waiting for their next step - this was in February 2026, their last email to us was 17/02/2026, saying that they are still waiting on a response. After 3 more emails and 2 phone calls, still have not heard anything. On 27/02/2026, another door knocker came to our door to ask who we installed our solar, my wife talked to the person and said who done it, turned out, he was from Smart Energy, too. He said that whats happening isn't good and will get an engineer to come to our place the next day (01/03/2026) at 330pm. But no one ever came - we changed our plans so that we could be home, but again, no communication to say no one was coming. When emailing asking where this person was, there was no response. Last Friday (13/03/2026), I called and talked to Ella. I demanded action be taken by 20/03/2026, as we are very frustrated with the lack of communication and them not in any rush fixing the issue we have. Since then, no call or emails from Smart Energy side. The last call was today (19/03/2026 at 11:44am) talking to Rosa, she stated that they are still waiting for their engineers to get back to them, they haven’t had any updates on their end. I said to just replace the whole battery unit, as it would make us happy, but Rosa dismissed that, saying the "we have to see what the engineers say". When asking to talk to someone higher up, she said there was no one else and I asked her to get her manager, who she said is Scott, to call me today. She said he's in a meeting and will try to get him to call me tomorrow (20/03/2026), which doesn't suit me. Rosa, however was happy for me to bring Fair Trading and NCAT into their lack of respect for warranty and customer care. After 6 months of paying for solar and a battery and not having it work and their customer relations well below par. I would 100% say if you want solar, stay away from this company. They said that they would reimbursed us for the time it hasn't worked and for the loss of money from not being able to sell back to the grid, but that doesn't count for the time we have spent writing emails, calling, waiting on people to come and then not show up and stress we have endured from their lack of customer service.
