matters worse, instead of honouring the original agreement, we were later offered a 30kW battery system rather than the 50kW system we had signed for.
The lack of communication, poor customer service, and failure to deliver on their promises have been extremely disappointing. We have decided to take our business elsewhere and purchase our battery system from a company that is more trustworthy, reliable, and committed to its customers.
If you’re looking for a company that stands by its commitments, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
Buyer beware! I paid a 50% deposit for a Solar and battery system in January 2026 after providing all details including pictures of my property. Smart House Solar informed me system would be installed within 6 weeks. It’s now end of July and after 6 months of frustration I’m getting a refund.

The Smart House Solar rep discussed alternative options and I ended up purchasing a 40kw FelicityESS battery and 10kw 3ph inverter from Smart house Solar which was installed within just a few days of purchase. The Installer "Sheng" was efficient and neat, he also arrived when he said he would. The backup and technical support from Smart House Solar has been great to get the best out of my battery and cant praise the SHS team highly enough

Had my installation done by Smart House Solar for a Fox 10kWh Inverter and 41.9kWh EQ4800-L9 battery pack. Installation was done after a month of signing the contract which was a reasonable time frame given the current circumstances. I would use them again, but would definitely want better assurances about stock availability and timelines. I was not able to get the original brand of product that I ordered, but they did deliver the same size system for the same original price I was quoted, despite the change in rebates, which changed their cost base substantially. I originally ordered 10kw of solar panels, a 10kw GoodWe single phase inverter and 48kwh of GoodWe batteries from this company in about mid February, with a promised install date of 15 April and assurances that there was plenty of stock and that the installers could definitely be done by the 1 May deadline. on 14 April, one day before installation was due, they called me to inform me that installation could not go ahead as scheduled due to lack of stock, but that I would definitely have my system by the deadline. The deadline came and went, and I was then informed that they could not install the same size GoodWe system for the promised price - they would have to downsize the battery considerably. I asked if they could install the cheaper FoxESS system instead, and they were able to complete my order using that system.
Despite my initial reservations about the FoxESS system, I have been happy with it since it has been installed - it's running smoothly, has scheduling and full integration with Amber Energy like I wanted from the GoodWe system, and overall seems to be a much better quality product than I expected. The monitoring software tells me everything I want to know and the 48kwh of CQ7 series batteries and 9.9kw inverter and 10kw of panels have been running like a dream - I am only using about 1kwh of power a day (the inverter uses a little for grid integration I guess) while exporting about 25 kwh and consuming 20kwh, with plenty of battery reserve for a rainy or cloudy day - I am typically only depleting it 50% at most, after exporting power in the early morning. I could export a lot more but am being conservative at this stage.
If they can get better control of inventory management and supply lines, these guys will be unbeatable in the market.
-1 star lost due to supply chain issues and that the brand I ended up with wasn't the brand I initially wanted. +1 star because they did deliver the size system I wanted +1 star for the same price, even after the rebates for large systems had reduced substantially, +1 star for the helpful and responsive staff +1 star for the quality of the install

Overall, im happy with the result and especially dealing with Frank who went out of his way to make sure i was happy. Also glad i went with a bigger system.. Although the outlay cost was higher, Im now producing 90kwh on a good day with 13.2kw panels / 10kw inverter / 42Kwh battery and projected payback on the outlay is approx 2.5 years. (a smaller system would have actually taken longer to pay for itself)

electricity bill. Now that my system is installed I am reaping the benefits. No more electricity bills. Before solar my electricity bills were $2,000 per quarter. After Smart House Solar, I am paying $1,000 per quarter (for the system) for 5 years and after that - nothing.

Initial I did face some difficulties in organising the installation, but after that when I informed about the delay and my thoughts about previous review in google regarding the usual delayed response and all, They really helped me to clarify the situation and installed on time they promised without any delay. substitute. Then they called back a few house later to tell me that I would need to pay an extra 1600 dollar for the installation. They told me that I had to decide then or they would not be able to come back to install for some time. I told them I was not paying extra.. and then they told me if they came back later to install they could not guarantee the price I had agreed to. I wrote them a letter telling them that I wanted to cancel my contract and asked for a refund. After much back and forth.. they agree by email... but over 2 months later, still have not received my refund.
It was stressfull, unprofessional, and I was constantly dealing with new people each time that I was contacted, and who seemed unaware that I had already provided information.. Really awful. I will now be going through Comsumer protection to try and get my deposit back.

Here's a timeline of our engagement: 23 Feb 2026 - Quote requested
24 Feb 2026 - Quotes and options received
24 Feb to 2 Mar - Various back and forth on options, timelines etc. "No installation date able to be given until contract signed"
3 Mar - Contract signed.
4 Mar - 18 Mar - Complete radio silence despite chasing multiple times via email, SMS, WhatsApp and phone.
18 Mar - FINALLY, some communication. Installation confirmed for 29 Apr, subject to settling payment.
18 Mar - Assurance also given both verbally and in writing that installation would absolutely go ahead on 29 Apr. And in the event that it didn't, Smart House Solar would wear the additional cost of install in May or June resulting from decreased Government rebates.
18 Mar - Requested payment settled and confirmed received. Installation once again guaranteed for 29 Apr.
Apr 11 - Received an email explaining installation delays. Provided 3 options. 1) Proceed with battery only. 2) Wait for Solar + Battery in May/Jun. 3) Cancellation and refund.
"Please rest assured: Your agreed price will remain unchanged, even if installation is delayed beyond April or May despite government incentive reductions. Your job is still active, and we are continuously following up with installers on your behalf."
Apr 11 - Followed up immediately to reconfirm installation date of Apr 29. Radio silence.
Apr 16 and Apr 18 - Repeated follow ups.
Apr 20 - Finally, a response. "We will be providing you with a new installation date shortly, and I can assure you that the price will remain the same as agreed."
Fast forward to today, Jun 12, and after REPEATED attempts to contact I've heard it all.
- "We'll call you back within 15 minutes". Nope. - "We don't have record of your project". "Oh, sorry, we do." - "You've only paid $300". Nope. - "We spoke with you on x date". Nope. - "It doesn't matter that we put in writing to you that we will continue with the installation and wear the cost. We won't". What the?! What's the point in agreeing anything if they're happy to just disregard it as it suits them.
