The installation process and the installers (Jack and Zac) were amazing - so professional, organised, courteous, tidy, minimal disruptions and inconvenience, informative and helpful. I went with Solargain because of their 20-year reputation, but the reality was a nightmare. They are just a Perth company using subbies to do their work unsupervised - Avoid at all costs. wasn't explained to me upfront.
To make things worse, the installation was a disaster. The sealants on my roof were a mess - I'm talking bird feathers and debris mixed in (see photos) - which led to water leaking into my house and damaging the ceiling. Then they sent the same unsupervised subbie back to 'fix the job' who lied to me about how he had conducted the work and had actually just gooped shitloads of silicone over the top of the dek tites, solargain then went into bat that it had been repaired.
It felt like an unsupervised crew just rushed the job, no safe systems of work, no fall protection very poor quality workmanship resulting in property damage.
It took months of back-and-forth and a lot of stress to get any acknowledgment. We’ve finally settled things commercially so I can hire a local solar installer to fix their mess and get the power output up to 10kw, but I’d never use them again.
If you’re looking at solar go with a local provider who installs it themselves, make sure they are not using a sub contractor and check the system and the roof penetrations before you pay them

entire family had been sitting on a time bomb for the last 2 years.
I spent over $800 dollars replacing the RCBOs. I have sent the detailed electrician report, videos etc to Solargain asking for a refund but a month later, there’s nothing. Apparently, they are waiting to hear from their supplier.
The awareness of checking RCBOs to see if they trip is very low. Can I please urge everyone reading this to check in case Solargain has replaced your switches.
Don’t trust what they claim. Contrary to their claim that they care and provide regular updates on issues raised, they don’t as is clear from my example.
Choose a provider that really cares, please.
Follow-up · Update Jul 2026 A year since, no further updates. Solargain didn't even bother to follow-up leave alone $800. Not even an apology for putting my entire family at risk. Clearly, not a company that anyone should trust. They are just after your money. Please save yourself the trouble and stay far away. It's not worth putting your family in danger. They have no idea what they are doing. Choose wisely please.

do a 5 year service. All I get on their "customer service" line is "This inbox is full". They don't respond to emails, tneir website chatbox is just a bot - they are completely off-grid.
Follow-up · I had a SG representative contact me within a few days of posting this, so a positive result there FWIWW. In the meantime, I was able to find the original contractor who installed the system (not a SG employee). He has since done the 5 year service and everything is humming along.

I've recently replaced by electric HWS with a 270L IStore heat pump. Solargain were extremely professional to deal. They organised for the heat pump to be installed quickly so I didn't have to wait until January 2026. I'm very happy with my heat pump and the sales team from Solargain.
Follow-up · iStore claim that noise levels are up 46.6dB but they're actually more like 58-59dB (which is measured) and is quite noisy. I reported this to Solargain who responded with "Noise measurements in typical installations are much higher in real life". Solargain didn't organise for a site visit to check whether there was a problem with the heat pump - which I was impressed with either.

couldn’t find anything wrong with it So this kept happening and we kept calling them again and yet gain they said they will need to check the roof and they will be back again so we waited for that too and finally they did come and once again they were unable or not capable to figure it out They turned the system on and it was working for a while until one day again I noticed it’s off but this time it will stay off and couldn’t be restarted. We called them , reported it and it has been almost 6 weeks that we are waiting I think it died on the 7/10/23 and we are now 14/11 and so far no one is coming, I keep calling and Perth office lady keeps escalating my case and she told me that’s all it can be done and we can’t have phone number for warranty team. It has to be done through her but she can’t do more than escalate to the warranty team herself and we will be waiting and paying high price It is impossible to get this ppl to help you. I mean do not have company if you can’t run according to the consumer law I wish we never went with them because I am still paying high bills even with this large system. and resolved in the end, which to me actually does tell you a lot more about a company than when things just happen to go right.
Everyone on site was professional and friendly and they left they place clear of debris which as a parent of 3 young kids I appreciated immensely. Communications, instructions and information were all very clear.
The team even discovered and fixed an issue with my existing wiring (my existing hot water boost switch had been hardwired by the previous owner to deceptively always be on to hide that the old broken system was in fact far more broken than it appeared!). So again I really appreciate that the team made the effort to uncover that one.
Overall I'm really glad I went with Solargain, they may not have been the cheapest or the fastest, but when I look at the performance of my grandmother's system she got through a random cold call company a couple of years ago vs mine, I do feel very confident that I have an excellent system and that if I do have any issues in future that Solargain will still be around to sort it out and they actually will.

In May 2019 our Solahart HWS finally needed replacing after over 35 years of service. We looked at available options and decided to go with Solargain for replacement product. This is where I have issues. First contacted Solargain, Brendale in March 2026 and was advised service department will contact. After few more calls, emails nothing happened so contacted main office in Perth. Got the usual sorry etc. and the name of a person to do service; rang and after repeated unreturned phone calls again contacted main office via email. Reply from [Name Removed] saying sorry for difficulty in getting system serviced and recommended another company. Rang and actually spoke to Julian who seemed more than happy to do the job. Forwarded details and have heard nothing more, again after more texts and email. Contacted Perth office again a couple of weeks ago and still awaiting reply. So here we are at the end of July 2026 and still no service. I have contacted Solahart who would be more than happy to do the service, but as they do not know if their components are compatible with Solargain said I may be wasting money on a call out if they cannot replace parts that are usually standard in a 5 year service. Regretfully though this may have to be my next step. Again, the product itself has been working well, however cannot say for how long as the servicing that is supposed to be done - as outlined on Solargain website - has not been possible. So if considering Solargain in Brisbane ask about their after sales servicing, as we certainly have not had any. Should have stayed with Solahart.

I had my solar system installed last year july 2025 which are istore hybrid inverter and jinko panels by Solargain Hastings. So far only had a couple of issues one was resolved quickly however the other is an ongoing feed in tariff which I'm not recieving. (My electricity provider does not get any information on how much feed in back to the grid).… Read more
According to solargain its an istore issue which I have asked Solargain many times via phone and emails when its going to be resolved only to get from them that istore is working on it and they will compensate for this loss. Reason why I'm giving 2 star review is that when I got my solar system installed Solargain knew this was an on going issue with istore and purposely didn't disclose it to me. If Solargain was upfront with saying istore had this issue I may have not gone with this system. This issue is not isolated to me as well and to this day Solargain are still installing these systems knowing this is still ongoing. I'm sure just like myself they have not been disclosing it to there customer base until after installation. Seems like to me Solargain responds well to product reviews so after reaching out many times via email and phone, I'm leaving my experience here so everyone can see. Again I'm sure they will say they are working with istore putting blame onto them.

The electrician was great during the solar health check. However, the experience was let down by the admin team. The electrician needed a blank document with a letterhead from the office so they could send me an updated report. Despite multiple reminders, the admin team literally took over a week to email them the blank document, causing unnecessary delays. I would not recommend Solargain due to their poor admin support. I am an electrician myself and recognise quality workmanship. iStore unit works well, heats water quickly and is light on power. I had a few issues where the unit would make a vibrating noise (not the compressor) that carried into the house. The installers did some bizarre piping in the roof that I'm still trying to get sorted out. Keep an eye on the install.
