where a dentist provides over treatment and suggests work that is not genuinely required. Was suggested to get three fillings - these were not required. After seeking a second opinion, only one filling was required, and surprisingly, was not on any of the teeth they had suggested.

They also referred me to an oral surgeon who was clearly giving them kickbacks with the absolute absurd prices they quoted for a simple wisdom tooth removal.

Remote/Direct-to-Customer Practices: I received a mail-in kit to take my own imprints. Twice the moulds were deemed unsatisfactory. The putty adhered so strongly that it exerted dangerous force when pulled off. As someone with existing restorations and crowns, I was deeply worried about dislodgement. After two failed mail attempts, Bitesoft booked an in-person scan 100km away.

2. Assessment & Suitability: Bitesoft/Aalto promo emails claim participating practitioners use X-rays/3D scans to examine dental health and address underlying cavities or gum disease before treatment. After traveling 100km for a 3D scan and providing a recent OPG X-ray, no oral health concerns were flagged. They approved me for treatment, completely failing their promised duty of care by ignoring pre-existing restorations and crowns that they later used as an excuse to cancel my treatment.

3. Professionalism & Expertise: My complex case required a dentist to apply 9 sharp, square dental attachments to my teeth—a step never mentioned in promotional materials. These made removing the rigid aligners practically impossible. When the dentist expressed concern, I called Bitesoft/Aalto from the chair. They dismissed it and told him to do "what he deemed best," so he slightly rounded the edges. The extreme force required to pull off the aligners damaged my non-targeted teeth, gums, and crowns. I suffered swollen gums, sporadic pain of random teeth, and two or three dislodged crowns. I required two courses of antibiotics for gum infections, a complex molar extraction due to a vertically cracked root caused by the force, a broken premolar, a failed root canal, and subsequent specialist endodontist surgery.

4. Remote Monitoring App: Bitesoft/Aalto uses an app and scan box to remotely clear patients. I scanned fortnightly and received green light to move to the next aligner each time. Less than a week after being approved for my 3rd aligner, Bitesoft/Aalto called out of nowhere. They stated my previous case manager had left, and upon a secondary review, ordered me to stop treatment immediately. The sudden reason provided was an "incomplete root canal... and several failed restorations"—issues they should have identified during initial screening before selling me the aligners.

5. Aftercare & Support: Upon cancelling, Bitesoft/Aalto pressured me to sign a disclaimer form and issued a refund. While they returned the money for treatment that never happened, I am left with severe, ongoing health complications. A year and a half after discontinuing Bitesoft/Aalto aligners, I still suffer infected gums, sporadic nerve pain, loose crowns and daily anxiety about the health of my teeth.

Bitesoft/Aalto failed to screen my teeth safely, provided inadequate clinical guidance, and left me with thousands of dollars in irreversible dental damage.

through, they stopped for an unexpected jaw/teeth X-ray. The staff later explained when they could not finish the cleaning that a 30-minute slot is normal, and I should have expected that. However, according to my health fund, the cleaning should have been fully completed in one visit. When I told them [BUPA] this, they seemed almost blasé about helping me, despite my 45-plus years of loyal patronage. I expected a complete cleaning, but I left feeling rushed, and as if my decades of support meant nothing. Bupa should step up, pay more attention, and ensure their practitioners are acting with real professionalism."

During our visit, I observed two senior staff members standing over a newer employee until she moved from the desk so they could take over organising the follow-up appointment themselves. The interaction appeared unnecessarily intimidating and created an uncomfortable atmosphere in front of patients.

I was also disappointed by the language used when speaking about my child. My son was repeatedly referred to as “kid” rather than by his name, and we were told his teeth and jaw were “terrible” and required immediate attention. I found this unnecessarily alarmist and lacking sensitivity, particularly when speaking about a child.

When I questioned the need for an additional scan on top of the imaging we had already provided, I was told the practice prioritises “committed parents” and informed there would be a 12-month wait for treatment and a three-month wait for scans. This was confusing given that we observed two families receiving consultations and scans immediately afterwards.

I also found it inappropriate that business cards promoting the Dr Mahoney's winery were displayed in the waiting room of a children’s healthcare practice.

Most concerning, I have received no response to my email requesting the release of my son’s records so that we can seek a second opinion elsewhere.

I have no doubt that [Name Removed] is highly educated and knowledgeable in his field. However, my experience felt heavily sales-focused and lacking the compassion and care that should underpin treatment involving any human, especially children.

Budderim/Maroochdore Qld operation for 11/1/25. I went online the NEXT day on 2/1/25 to cancel both bookings. I received a confirmation of both cancellations via email. They IMMEDIATELY charged my credit card the total cost of $500.

I have tried to call repeatedly their 1300# (5 times) with no answer. I also sent an email as well as using their “chatbot” on their website. I forwarded a screenshot of the cancellation confirmation received by them via email.

It is illegal to take payment for service/s that have NOT been provided.

It is illegal to take full payment 10 days before service without consent or notification to the consumer.

I now have to waste time going to my bank/credit card provider to claim fraudulent transaction.

different dental centers. This review is for "Value Dental Center in Hamilton Brisbane." This center is very clean and the front ladies are very friendly. My complaint is not with the service or the center. My complaint is with the advertising of misleading information. The advertised price for an implant at this center was $3200.00. When you make an appointment for a consultation it is free which is very good. However they need an OPG Xray before they can assess whether you are eligible for an implant. This is $79.00 up front. Then on top of the $3200.00 there are added fees and procedures. Some are Bone graft $300, Provisional denture while waiting 4 months for the implant and crown to be completed is another $500. Plus a surgical guide per arch which was charged on the first visit of $99.00. All together my one implant which I thought was going to cost $3200.00 was going to cost me $5073.00.

With Value Dental Center you also need to become a member to access the service for $79.00. When I asked about this membership, I was told it was a requirement, due to keeping their costs lower than other dental places. I then advised the friendly receptionist that I had a cheaper quote from another dentist of $4100.00. She didn't really have an answer for me.

The first dental clinic I went to advertised a price of $2780.00 for one implant and crown. At the end of the consultation the price was going to end up as $4100.00. So this seems to be normal practice and procedure in dental advertising.

This review is written for other would be customers to be aware of all added costs above the advertised cost for an implant before you make an appointment. This should be made clear at the advertising stage. Thank you

have my carer/advocate with me so I was in an extremely high state of stress (bordering on a meltdown) and unable to make an informed decision to proceed while awake. I felt pressured to make the decision right then and there to go ahead with the procedure or re-book, even though I couldn't communicate my internal distress and so I continued with the procedure in an environment that exceeded my sensory limits. The dentist then made a remark comparing me to other Autistic patients who 'manage just fine' which made me feel like he was shaming me for a physiological response I can't control and invalidating my sensory issues. This comment pushed me over the edge and I had a meltdown that lasted days. Under healthcare standards, practitioners have a duty to provide "person-centered care." Comparing one patient to another to shame them is a breach of that standard and a form of medical gaslighting. When I was asked weeks later by receptionist if the dentist could call me about my 1 star Google review, I immediately took it down as I felt incredibly intimidated knowing the scrutiny would be on me to justify and explain why my experience and distress was valid enough to give them a 1 star. I didn't get that phone call which I assume is either because the intimidation worked and the review disappeared, or hopefully because they realised that this was ethically and morally not a very good idea on their part when communication in person or on phone is distressing enough for me without feeling like I'm being attacked for my opinion. If the dentist was truly confused about why they were accused of gaslighting, they don't need a phone call with me—they need professional development. I have decided to explain that review in the hope that there is some professional reflection on my feedback to improve communication and practice with ASD patients moving forward.
