 AI reviews summary

Amaysim reviews reflect a deeply divided customer base, though recent feedback is predominantly negative. While long-term users appreciate the "data banking" features and competitive bundling of mobile and NBN services, a significant number of customers report severe difficulties with basic administrative tasks. The most critical takeaways involve a breakdown in customer support accessibility and significant technical hurdles during the SIM activation and account cancellation processes.

Pros
Data Banking: Users frequently praise the ability to roll over and accumulate large amounts of unused data, which remains a standout feature for long-term value.
Bundling Value: The combination of NBN and mobile plans is noted for providing significant discounts and simplified billing for satisfied customers.
Roaming Performance: Several travellers report a "faultless" and "easy" connection experience when using international roaming packs in various countries.
NBN Speeds: When successfully connected, some users report excellent NBN speeds that meet or exceed their plan's advertised rates.
Cons
Activation and Porting Failures: A recurring issue involves the failure of identity verification and SIM activation, leaving customers without service for days or weeks despite multiple attempts.
Inaccessible Support: Many reports highlight wait times exceeding 45–60 minutes on both phone and live chat, with AI chatbots often failing to escalate issues to human representatives.
Difficult Cancellation: Customers frequently complain that it is "impossible" to cancel services or remove payment details online, often requiring lengthy interactions that do not always result in a resolution.
Forced Plan Increases: Multiple long-term users expressed frustration over sudden, significant price hikes (sometimes 66-100%) and the removal of budget-friendly legacy plans.
Verdict

Amaysim is a viable option for those seeking high data limits and bundled savings, provided the initial setup and activation go smoothly. However, the high frequency of reports regarding broken activation systems and non-existent customer support makes it a risky choice for users who require a reliable, quick setup or who may need technical assistance.

1 Marvin Z.  · trash, advertised nbn 500 however only got nbn 100 speed. Better to choose more reputable service providers
1 Santiago  · Worst internet service. Very Intermittent and slow. Wouldn't recommend this product. Customer service never gives much information.
1 Rob  · Once again had problems making payment but trying to contact anyone is virtually impossible Absolute poor customer service
1 Bronson M.  · It’s taken 4 hours to activate a sim. Aggravating. No more smart phones for me. Have them!
1 SPARTA S.  · They do not support 5g they are lying. Taking legal actions
5 Sophie W.  · Fantastic service. Had an NBN issue which was quickly identified and escalated. Was compensated for the time we were without internet.

Received an "insufficient funds" notification from Amaysim upon plan renewal, i immediately deposited the required amount into my bank account for payment. This seemingly simple process is now made more difficult by Amaysim by not including a (Try Again) payment link on their app.. why?? Now i have to run down to the shop & buy a voucher! I have… Read more

This is where agents go when they are fired from their other jobs to work at Amaysim and they demostrate why they got fired. In order to speak to someone you have to give your details in order to connect to an agent. However, everytime you speak to them, they will never read what you wrote, you will have to repeat everything you said again. You… Read more

have to wait 5 - 10 minutes for a response but if you don't sit on the app and wait for you, they will disconnect you. A message comes up and says that "we will remember what you said and pick up where you left off" - do you think that it does. Absolutely not. Even when you explain the problem to them, they will ask you multiple times what the problem is. I can't wait for AI to take over their jobs - they provide literally 0 value to the community and looking it up on google is better. I have no idea if they are located offshore, but I would put money on it despite having all aussie nick names. You can literally just tell by their absolute incompetency that they are offshore, there is no way that if you were speaking to someone in Australia that they would literally be this basic.

Just trying to activate a new sim, should be pretty simple.. I had to login to my existing amaysim account, approve via sms to make changes to account then asks for an ID verification. Only problem is you are unable to enter your ID details, white comes over the bottom of the screen with an amaysim logo and you can't see or enter anything. These… Read more

Crazy setup and a time-wasting process. The recharge process is unclear. You receive a text saying there is money in the account, and recharge - but it is extremely vague with no instructions. I have $40 in the account from “Add Credit,” stuffup where i kept adding credit to try and buy but couldn't add it to my phone number, this will expire… Read more

annually. Then there is “Get Voucher,” but you cannot buy a voucher online with the credit sitting in my account.

There is literally no user flow. Credit is sitting in the account, but I have to somehow top it up to the phone number. My God, whoever designed this system are muppets, absolutely excrutiating process and this is Day 3! for a $15pa prepay number going into Day 4! and they are Optus resellers anyway.

The SMS messages provide zero instructions, and there is no available help or support—it is offshore. Then I receive emails with the subject line “RE: DVS” asking to verify my ID before I can speak further. Yes, submit new ID. Wanted to connect to chat, i had it sitting there for over 1 hour waiting and waiting and waiting - no connection. You can ring, but it would have been good if the chat connected before the phone lines closed.

I was pushed to amaysim after my provider circles closed in April. The phone with the sim broke in April and so there has been no usage. I started cancelling in May they only confirmed it in July. data top ups of a sim card that is at the rubbish tip. I literally had $33 until payday in 3 days time and amaysim just took $25. There is nowhere on the app or browser to cancel. I have to wait for someone to contact me back. Same as last time when i cancelled. I've attached screenshots of (marketing) emails confirming the cancellation and trying to lure me back, all whilst still taking money from my account (screenshots 3 & 4).

Being told to do stuff then having to restart a conversation with a new agent. They cut you are off if you take 2 seconds to respond but they can take as long as they want - so rude. SO UPSETTING. APP is rubbish. ?new? And having a $25 plan with discount cannot renew via sms as it is too confused. This is ridiculous. A tech company that has rubbish eveything. I am always a happy client but the constant dealing with incompetence and wasting my valuable time, Amaysim could not repay me enough for my wasted time on their app.and with their Agents who are ' Multitasking which is not a 'thing'. 1 thing at a time concentrate on 1 client and get the job done right! I am sure the repercussions from this negative review will not be as bad as what we have had to deal with over time!! Paying for this with the increase in costs.. for still terrible service....time to move on!! OR not have a phone altogether.

Follow-up  · So found out that with plan increase they have dropped MMS' WOW!!!! That is where the money went. So dissappointed. I do not believe having a mobile phone should cost SO much.

I've been a mobile phone customer for a number of years. No problems over that time. Bought their global roaming when visiting Indonesia. There was a problem (not their fault) and customer service was great. My experience has been nothing but positive. Due to this have just shifted my nbn to them.

Wish I’d found this Mobile Telco company years ago, excellent value on their yearly upfront payment plans, even with the occasional first year discount offers it's a good price. it was simple and seamless set up and easily managed on line and the app. Uses the Optus network which is fine with us. The real bonus is the offered roaming service for an… Read more

upfront and very reasonable fee, which has worked exceptionally well in Asia so far , and makes it so much easier than changing sims all the time and provides the ability to receive texts when you need them,(most telcos charge at least $5 a day until you cancel)Amaysims roaming plans last a year( or 6 months) or until used up. Of note we had friends in Japan who had a few issues with the E-sim side of things, but eventually it was worked out, we found no issues there on a sim card. but it does pay to read the instructions and procedures. Highly recommended

Total scam. I was on vacation in Oz for 1 month and went online to find a temp sim card. I unfortunately came across these scammers. I contacted their customer support to cancel it but she pretended not to understand. I thought… Read more

I will wear the $15 and bought another one at the local supermarket. I now find out months later they have been taking $40 a month from my card ever since. Obviously they had sneakilly signed me up for a auto renewal a a higher rate somewhere in the fine print. I went online to cancel and there is no where to cancel it. The phone line (which is charged) kept me on hold forever without answering before i hung up, and the chat line does not answer either. Total scams - stay away!

Their plan fees have more than doubled over recent years. No more budget friendly plans at all - so now they're no better than any other provider. Amaysim service is no better nor worse than any other OPTUS network provider. The problem is I remember when they were $10, $12 and then $14 a month but now the minimum is $25 for 28 days. That's not… Read more

budget friendly that's a cash grab. I left AMAYSIM and moved to Spintel which are only $1 cheaper at $24 per month, but at least offered special of $14 for the first 6 months. After 6 months I will just look for another cheap OPTUS network provider as I have ZERO reason to be "loyal" to ANY company, and I consider AMAYSIM rip off merchants like every other provider so....

Even one star is too generous for this joke of a company. I lost my phone recently, bought a new one and tried to download an eSIM. I had an old email on file and couldn't get access to my account. I then spent the next nine hours on chats, calls and was asked to send sensitive documents over email because they don't have a secure way to send documents. The offshore support centre is horrific to deal with. Never again.

I used amaysim for a while, but I found the 5G network was not very consistent in city based like Sydney. It would often switch between 5G and 4G, unlike some Telstra-based MVNOs that provide a more stable connection. If network reliability is important, I would recommend a Telstra-based provider instead. However, amaysim is still a good option as a secondary SIM for occasional calls, texts, and light internet usage.

Also they mentioned they have upgraded the software I thought may be it fixed but no. It still doesn’t work. Unbelievable. There was no prior communication regarding this restriction, and I only became aware of the issue when I urgently needed to make a call and was unable to do so.

When I contacted your support team, the only solution offered was to renew my plan, which did not want. The overall lack of communication and limited support has been frustrating and I'm glad that I won't be continuing with their service.
