Kogan Mobile receives highly polarised feedback, with sentiment largely divided between praise for individual customer service interactions and frustration over technical or systemic failures. While many users report excellent, patient support from specific staff members when resolving activation or porting issues, a significant segment of customers experiences severe service outages, poor network reception, and difficulties with the automated billing and cancellation systems.

Kogan Mobile is a strong choice for budget-conscious users who prioritise low annual costs and are comfortable navigating potential setup hurdles via phone support. However, those requiring high network reliability for business or seamless automated account management may find the systemic "glitches" and rigid cancellation policies a significant deterrent.
Being a Kogan member since almost 10 years, I experienced for the 1st time the WORST customer service from STAFF member [Name Removed]. I was shocked that this person is allowed to work at Kogan- He needs serious training at inter personal skills. I spoke to him at 11.50Perth Time today 2/8/2026. this incredibly RUDE and impatient staff who right from the begining of the call wanted to hang up the phone. I had to remind him twice of his basic duties and also asked for an alternative staff to speak which he declined and hung up. I called back and was pleasantly helped by staff [Name Removed], who was lovely and explained in detail what needed to be done. In all these years I have not comeaccross such an arrogant and rude customer service staff -[Name Removed]. PLEASE MAKE HIM UNDERGO TRAINING IN BASIC COURTESY AND SPOKEN SKILLS.
Shahnawaz was very helpful and friendly. He helped me transfer my existing eSIM to my new phone and explained the process clearly. Everything was sorted out quickly and smoothly. Really appreciate the great customer service. Thank you!
I spoke with Riya today to transfer my mobile number from my old phone to a new one. She handled my request with complete professionalism and kindness, and I am very satisfied with the service. Show reply

Muzammil was extremely helpful and kind throughout the entire process. He assisted me at every step of the way with activating my SIM and transferring my mobile service from Optus to Kogan. His support made the experience smooth and stress-free. Show details · 1
Blew my data and they fixed it – I left my hotspot open and it drained 10 gig in 30 minutes. No time for the usage alerts to catch my attention. After I called and explained that I am a 24 month account holder and I did not get the messages in time, they gave me a 2 GB credit to get me to my next account recharge. Show details · 1
Super Duper Support from Kogan Mobile – Five Star Service by Kogan Support. I lost my mobile recharge voucher code and when found, it was expired, the Support team has listened to me, helped me, reissued the new recharge coucher code at no cost. Show details · 1

Impossible to cancel, continued charging for months My elderly mother (over 70) visited Australia from Brazil, so I bought her a Kogan Mobile SIM. The service was advertised as prepaid, not recurring. The account was registered in her name but using MY bank card, and the account is under MY email address. No ID or verification was required at… Read more

When she returned to Brazil, I tried to cancel the service. First attempt: logging into the website. I have full access (email, password, everything), but there is no option anywhere to cancel the service or remove payment details.
Second attempt: calling support. I was told ONLY my mother can authorize removal of MY bank card from the account. So I was allowed to create the account, pay for it, and manage it using my email, but I am not allowed to stop the charges.
My mother does not live in Australia, does not speak English, and cannot realistically deal with Australian phone support.
I then emailed support, opened a Fair Trading complaint, and disputed the charges with my bank. Despite all this, Kogan has continued charging my card for three months.
This situation is completely unreasonable. A prepaid service should not be able to keep charging a third party indefinitely while making cancellation practically impossible.
Avoid giving them your payment details unless you are prepared for a very difficult time cancelling.

I was with Kogan last year and had no problem so I bought the pre-paid sim 365 days Flex with 200GB ($159) this year, and the 4G connection has been TERRIBLE. It’s extremely unstable and will not connect to the internet every 5 mins. It doesn’t matter where I am in Brisbane no matter how crowded or not it will always have this patchy connection… Read more
and I am out of patience. I can’t even post this review until I wait the connection is stable. Ridiculous. I want to get a refund. I will be switching to a different company.

Network terrible. Barely works even if you have full signal bars. When you buy a 365 day pre paid, they steal your data. I've used about 9gb in 60 days according to my phone. Yet Kogan say I've used 166gb. Unreal thieves. Steer clear! Highway robbery When you ask them about it they ignore you

Poor experience with customer service. Called Kogan Mobile in February to refund a plan and reinstate my previous plan. Customer service was able to provide me with a refund but could not find any record of me ever having another plan with them. After two days and three separated customer service representative, I finally was able to have my… Read more
original plan reinstated, with the representative at the time confirming a new expiry date of 2027 for this phone and data package. Six months later, when my monthly service is due to recharge, it suddenly shows that I have 0GBs of data, despite the expiry of the plan still being 2027. I then ring customer service again to ask why this had happened, to which they inform me that they had adjusted the data package on their end to have an original expiry date rather than the new expiry that I can see on my customer portal. After two days and having to speak to three different representatives again, there was no acknowledgement that their had been miscommunication on their end regarding the expiry of the plan, one of the customer service managers, Jasmine, was only able to explain that it was a 'system glitch' and that I had to purchase a new plan. The representatives were quite unprofessional during our conversations, constable cutting me off using a domineering tone as I was explaining my situation and provided no solution to my issue of not being in a finacial situation to immediately purchase a new plan. In the end, I was left with no data, no proposed solution to purchasing a new plan and no acknowledgement of miscommunication on the part of Kogan Mobile.

I renewed my aunty's phone plan using my credit card in March 2025, in February this year (202) she moved overseas. Yet, in March this year the dreaded AutoRenewal from Kogan hit and renewed for another year. I called Kogan, they insisted to speak to her even though she is overseas with a 8 hour time difference. Anyway, the next day I managed… Read more
to get both on the phone and Kogan agreed to cancel the subscription and reverse the charges. That was 3 months ago, nothing has so far been refunded. I have since called them again about it twice. Today we rang and they said they have tried to reverse it 5 times and to check with my bank. I find this very hard to believe. Like a bank is refusing to take money?!
The moral of the story is, don't use a normal credit card when signing up with these guys. Use a card that either gives a temporary number valid for a few hours or a temporary CVV number. It is painful trying to get a refund or cancel. Alternatively, use a prepaid credit card.

My first year plan with Kogan Mobile recently expired. Somehow, an automatic recharge function had been activated in my account. I certainly did not enable it myself. Without offering me any alternative or confirmation, Kogan automatically charged my credit card. Instead of renewing the current 5 May promotional plan for $199 with 500GB, they… Read more · 1
charged me an unexplained amount of $335.
Since Kogan already had my credit card details, they could just as easily have charged any other amount. This is completely unacceptable.
I called the customer support number expecting assistance, but instead the experience was extremely disappointing. The operator told me that refunding the $135 overpayment was apparently impossible. Instead, I was told that I first need to purchase another $199 plan with my own money, then call Kogan support again afterwards, explain the whole situation from the beginning to another operator, and only then they may refund the original $335 payment. Just imagine this chaos and confusion for a customer.
Update:
After publishing my initial review, I was contacted by Kogan and offered assistance. My issue was resolved very quickly. I purchased a new discounted $199 plan and sent the provided code to Kogan support. Within minutes, my account was updated and my previous plan was replaced with the new one. I was also informed that a full refund for the original plan will be processed and should be returned within three days. In addition, my data allowance was significantly increased, with an extra 400GB added on top of the existing 500GB annual plan. This is an exceptionally good-value plan, and at this time it would be difficult to find a comparable offer with other providers. I appreciate the Kogan support team for the prompt resolution of my case. Based on this experience, I would be happy to recommend them to others. My only suggestion for improvement is that, in addition to phone support, it would be very helpful to have a direct email support option available on the website. This would assist customers who have limited time or prefer to describe their issue in writing. I hope Kogan considers adding this option in the future.
I find it annoying that Kogan mobile dont have the option to cancel mobile plans by the user through the app or website, and also automatically puts users on their "First" plan trial, and charges the user afterwards, thats disclosed to the user in a small fine print.. Without a clear way to cancel that as well until the user had been charged and… Read more · 1
cancel it.
Thankfully I got refunded after that stress automatically right after I cancelled the plan the day they charged it, and only because i noticed kogan charged me on my trsnsactions. And the reason i put Kogan in 4 stars despite the negatives I experienced, its still resolvable so far, and also Kogana mobiles customer service call is actually really great at quickly cancelling that mobile plans, and helping you switch over to another plan with them. Like for me it was cancelling their monthly plan to a yearly plan of theirs, all in just 6 minutes! And with great value for the money. so, its not perfect, but its still pretty good. The data itself is decent so far using it for a month for the price, not superb, but it works, which is enough for me.

I have been with Kogan mobile for almost a year. Today I received a message saying my service would automatically renew. As I would not ordinarily set up auto renew I logged in to the online system where I am unable to find any auto renew option. Now I cannot renew as I want to choose how I renew. I called Kogan and spoke to the most unhelpful person. Kogan you need to work on your customer service and website.

I previously loved Kogan mobile, they were always helpful and has the answers straight away but recently something has changed and they don't care. They read from a script repeating the same sentences over and over and don't listen. I was provided a case number and a complaint number but no one called after following them up twice. I recently renewed my 365-day plan with Kogan, expecting the 200GB to be a usable bank, but instead ended up with a plan that splits it into 16GB blocks every 30 days. To make matters worse, I discovered the hard way that any unused data does not roll over; it just vanishes. I recharged two days before my previous plan expiry, and the new plan… Read more
started immediately without any warning of terminating my active plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that there is zero rollover is buried in the fine print and not mentioned on the main page. This is extremely unethical advertising, especially since Kogan promotes rollover on their other plans. Nobody has a perfectly fixed data usage every single month—if you have a light month, you lose the data you paid for. This plan is designed for the customer to lose. Absolute rubbish.
