I wish I could give Boost Mobile zero stars. I purchased a 365-day prepaid plan on 27 July for around $300. I'm simply trying to activate an eSIM on my iPhone 17, but because Boost only allows eSIM activation through its app, I'm completely stuck. Every time I try to activate the eSIM, I get the same error: "There's been a technical problem.… Read more

Something went wrong. Please try again later." Over the past five days, I've contacted Boost support more than six times. Every interaction has been the same ,they ask me to wait a few hours and repeat the same troubleshooting steps. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, reset my network settings, power-cycled my phone, and tried everything they've suggested multiple times. Nothing has worked, yet no one has provided a real solution. To make matters worse, one of the support representatives told me to visit a Telstra store. After making the trip, the Telstra staff advised they couldn't help because my service is with Boost. I was sent there for no reason. At this point, I feel like I'm just being passed around with no resolution in sight. I also can't simply port my number to another provider because I've already invested around $300 in this 365-day plan. If your service relies on an app for critical functions like eSIM activation, that app needs to work, and your support team needs to have a process for resolving issues when it doesn't. My experience has been extremely disappointing.

I'd give zero if I could!!!!!! I have been a Boost Mobile customer for a few years and have always purchased the 12-month prepaid recharge (240GB), used to be $240, it's now gone up to $300. Last year, using the exact same plan and my phone in the same way, I still had data left over at the end of the 12 months. This year, I recharged on 24 May… Read more

2026, and less than two months later, Boost claims I have already used all 240GB of my data. That simply doesn't make sense.

According to the usage report in the Boost app, it shows 120GB of mobile data used in June alone. That's an average of 4GB every single day, which I find completely absurd.

I have Wi-Fi at home, where I spend most of my time. I don't even leave the house every day, so I'm certainly not using mobile data for hours on end. I don't watch Netflix or other streaming services on mobile data either. I do use social media and general browsing, but even that doesn't explain averaging 4GB of mobile data every day when I'm usually connected to my home Wi-Fi.

What makes this even more concerning is that the detailed usage records provided by Boost show 3–7GB of mobile data being used almost every day between approximately 1:00 am and 3:00 am. This pattern is highly unusual and certainly doesn't reflect how I use my phone. Despite raising this with customer service, no one has been able to explain how this level of overnight data usage is possible.

To make matters worse, dealing with customer service has been incredibly frustrating. My case keeps being passed from one representative to another, with each person asking me to repeat the same information. No one has been able to provide a meaningful explanation or a genuine investigation into why such excessive data usage is being recorded.

Another disappointing aspect is the lack of meaningful usage notifications. I never received SMS alerts when I supposedly reached milestones such as 50%, 80% or 90% of my data allowance. The only messages I received were a generic "your data is running low" notification followed shortly afterwards by "your data has been used up." By then, it was far too late to monitor or adjust my usage.

I've asked Boost to investigate because I genuinely question whether the recorded data usage is accurate. Customers should be able to trust that their data balance is being measured correctly, especially on an annual prepaid plan that has been paid for upfront.

At this stage, I'm extremely disappointed and have lost confidence in Boost's data usage reporting and customer support. Unless Boost can provide a proper explanation backed by evidence, I cannot recommend their annual prepaid plans.

Boost runs on the full Telstra prepaid network NOT REALLY !! Boost Mobile 4 Years Experience !! I have been with Boost Mobile for over 4 years. Every year the price has increased, but the service quality has not improved. The indoor signal is very weak in Lidcombe, Parramatta, and Blacktown, which are all major areas in the heart of Sydney.… Read more

Inside shopping centres, apartments, and buildings, calls often drop and mobile data is slow or unusable.

Boost Mobile used to feel like good value, but with prices going up and poor indoor coverage, it is no longer reliable for everyday use. After being a long-term customer, this is very disappointing.

Boost Mobile needs to seriously improve indoor coverage in Sydney, especially in busy suburbs, or review its pricing for loyal customers.

I've been on Boost Mobile on and off. Here is my take: + the best network coverage in Australia + cheaper than Telstra + frequent promo for new customers + simple plans - terrible customer service. I want to share my terrible experience with Boost Mobile so that other consumers can avoid falling into the same trap. 1. Misleading advertising of the $365 prepaid plan On 29 August 2025, I purchased Boost’s $365 12-month prepaid plan. The official Boost website clearly promoted this plan as including unlimited international calls and SMS to 20… Read more

countries. That was the only reason I chose this plan.

However, after receiving and activating the SIM card, I discovered that international calls were not available. When I contacted Boost, they referred me to their Critical Information Summary (CIS), which quietly excludes international calls from this plan.

This is a classic bait-and-switch: the website advertising gives one impression, but the fine print says the opposite. Many other consumers have reported the same issue online – this is not an accident, it’s a deliberate way to mislead customers.

2. Dishonest customer service behaviour (Agent: Dinchen) When I complained, Boost’s customer service agent Dinchen admitted the problem and told me that I could port out to another provider and receive a full refund of the $365 plan.

I relied on this promise and ported my number away. But once I had done so, Boost suddenly reversed its position and refused to refund me, leaving me out of pocket. This shows a complete lack of integrity – Boost took my money, misled me about the service, and then broke its promise when I sought a resolution.

Conclusion Boost Mobile has:

Misled customers with contradictory advertising and fine print;

Provided robotic and dismissive customer service that refuses to acknowledge obvious evidence;

Gone back on its word, showing zero respect for consumers.

This company’s behaviour is, in my opinion, unlawful under Australian Consumer Law. I am pursuing this matter with the TIO, ACCC, and ACMA, and I strongly urge other consumers to avoid Boost until they clean up their misleading marketing and dishonest practices.

Rating: 0/5 – Absolutely the worst telecom experience I have ever had.

Boost is absolutely fantastic! I must praise Boost's service attitude! A big thanks to Maria and John at the Boost Mobile office—they answered my questions very patiently and directly helped me with keeping my original number and activating the plan. I was worried that solving the SIM card issue would take some time because my phone situation is a bit complicated, but with Maria and John's help, I got it sorted on the spot. Thank you so much, they really helped a lot! I'll be a loyal Boost customer from now on!

I wanted to use Boost as they use 99.7% of Telstra network for better coverage. I am clearly covered according to the coverage map. I was getting around 12 mbps download speed regularly on a 5G connection with under 1 Mbps upload. They advertise their speeds are fast capped at 150 Mbps. I ran a speed test on the Telstra page and best I got was 22 Mbps. I also used my Speedtest app and other means to check.

I contacted Boost about this and they couldn’t help. They escalated the problem and I had Telstra contact me. But all they did was the same thing everytime and ask the basic questions. Is your phone updated? Restart your phone? Use the speed test on the Telstra page & went through my phone settings. I had about 7 calls same response. I have used other carriers to test and the only issue is with Boost. Very disappointing

Follow-up  · The support I had was very basic. They would say the same thing. Restart your phone?. Update your phone?. Do a speed test but use the Telstra one on their page. I used my own speed tests too. Speedtest downloaded apps & other methods. All poor results. The level of support I got was escalated but repetitive. I used other SIM card networks with no problem. For whatever reason for me Boost has been awful to use.

could be the issue. Being an emergency after losing my phone, I bought an Aldi Prepaid Sim, which I was able to activate on that phone.

I tried to return the Boost sim to the same Coles store but the manager refused to refund. Saying they never refund an opened sim. And that I should contact Boost.

Contacted Boost online chat who also refused to refund the Boost sim saying; - Take it to Coles...which I said I had already tried - Then said they would help me to activate...which I said I no longer required - I pointed out that their website says 30 day refund no questions asked...but they said this only applies to sims purchased directly through Boost...although their web page does not say that All up...a very unsatisfactory customer experience all round.

I have received some further advice that the Boost sim activation process is notoriously difficult due to what appears to be an excess of security features. However they won't tell you that. Instead you get fobbed off with 'something went wrong...try again later'. That was certainly been my experience...and I won't be dealing with them again. If you want to use the Telstra network, I'd recommend Aldi mobile over Boost every day of the week. Especially if you have an older phone like me.

Follow-up  · Product Review have for some reason sent me a message saying these questions have been asked about my review...even though I can't see them here. international roaming plan for a trip to Singapore. After arriving, I opened the Boost Mobile app, went to Extras > International Roaming Packs, and was redirected to a page showing various packs. I chose the first one displayed — advertised as $13 for 1 week with 5GB of data.

After purchasing, I tried to use it, but nothing worked. Websites and apps wouldn’t load, pages kept timing out, and I tested in multiple locations with no luck.

When I returned to Australia, I contacted Boost for a refund. Their response was that the pack I purchased was for use in Australia only, and since it had already expired in their system, they couldn’t reimburse me. I pointed out that I had accessed it under “International Roaming Packs,” but they said the app simply redirects to a page with all packs and that it was essentially my fault for not reading the terms and conditions more carefully.

They offered compensation in the form of extra domestic data, but that’s meaningless to me since I never run out of data on my normal plan.

It’s very frustrating to see Boost refuse to take responsibility for what looks like an obvious bug or misleading app design. If the app doesn’t properly filter packs under “International Roaming,” how is the customer at fault? A simple refund would have resolved the issue, but instead I’m left disappointed after years of loyalty.

or take any ownership of resolving it. The problem is simple — I just want to convert my prepaid physical SIM to an eSIM, but it can only be done through the app. Unfortunately, my account is not syncing or recognising my service, leaving me stuck in a constant login loop where I am asked to add a new account.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I am repeatedly promised a follow-up call the next day to provide an update. Do they call? No, they don’t. I’m left waiting and have to chase them up again, only to go through the exact same conversation and troubleshooting steps.

Each call ends with another apology and the same instructions I have already completed multiple times. What is the point of calling back if nothing changes and nobody is willing to escalate the issue?

A simple request has turned into a two-week ordeal because there seems to be no process for properly handling ongoing unresolved cases. Extremely disappointing customer service.
