Formerly trading as Woolworths Car Insurance
AI reviews summary
Everyday Car Insurance receives polarised feedback, where high satisfaction with pricing and retail perks contrasts sharply with significant dissatisfaction regarding claims handling and communication. While many users praise the initial sign-up experience and competitive premiums, a recurring segment of customers reports severe difficulties when attempting to resolve claims or perform administrative tasks over the phone.
Pros
- Competitive Pricing: The "Drive Less, Pay Less" model and low-kilometre policies are frequently cited as providing significant savings compared to major competitors.
- Retail Benefits: The 10% monthly discount on Woolworths groceries is a major highlight, with many users noting that the savings effectively subsidise the cost of the premium.
- Simple Onboarding: The online quote and sign-up process is described as intuitive, fast, and easy to navigate for new customers.
- Proactive Communication: Several users appreciate the helpfulness of automated SMS alerts regarding severe weather and storm warnings in their local area.
Cons
- Claims Delays and Management: Significant issues exist regarding claim resolution times, with reports of simple claims taking several months and users being forced to act as intermediaries between the insurer and repairers.
- Phone Support Accessibility: Long wait times (often exceeding 30–60 minutes) and high background noise in offshore call centres are frequent points of frustration.
- Administrative Limitations: Many users report that simple policy changes, such as adding a driver or updating an odometer reading, cannot be done via the online portal and require lengthy phone calls.
- Refund and Billing Errors: Recurring complaints involve the insurer deducting premiums after a policy has been cancelled and significant delays (often weeks) in processing the resulting refunds.
Verdict
Everyday Car Insurance is a strong option for budget-conscious drivers and regular Woolworths shoppers who value competitive rates and immediate retail rewards. However, the service is less reliable for those who prioritise seamless claims support, as the transition from sales to claims often involves significant communication breakdowns and lengthy delays.
My mileage per year is very minimum, under 5000 ks per year also premiums are so so reasonable and winner also i get 10% off my groceries per month I saved over $300 on this policy, compared to the last one I had thankyou EverydayInsurance Show details · 1
Everyday Car Insurance was fantastic when I first signed up. They quoted my EV at around the mid-$1,000s when several other insurers wanted more than $2,000 a year. I also like the Woolworths perks. The monthly 10% discount and cheaper gift cards are actually something I use, so they're not just marketing fluff. The only downside is what seems to… Read more · 1
happen with every insurer. The longer you stay, the less competitive the pricing becomes. When I upgraded to a newer EV, my premium jumped to around $3,000 a year. It wasn't the highest quote I received, but it was enough to make me start comparing providers again. A good insurer with competitive pricing for new customers, but don't forget to do the annual shop-around when renewal comes up.
Further to my earlier review, I forgot to mention that Everyday Car Insurance wants me to pay for my car to be repaired because they kept asking if I intends to repair or not. As I did not reply to their request, they have refused to insure the car. Afrer posting my earlier review, their representative contacted me and after some communication, he… Read more
informed me that someone would contact me. Up till today, no-one has. Bad customer service altogether!!

I’ve had my policy for about 8 months. Found it when I bought a new car second hand and was looking around for new insurance. Cheapest policy by far and it doesn’t skimp on what you’re covered for. I’ve had to make a claim in the first few months when my parked car was damaged, and it was all pretty easy to pop in some details and photos, and… Read more · 1
then the repairer contacted me to organise to get it fixed at no cost to myself.
I also love getting up to $10 off with the 10% off a monthly shop at Woolies. Saves up to $120 per year making the policy even better value for money.
The only drawback was the time I had to wait to get into the repairer. My car was in a drivable condition, but if it wasn’t, I would have been without a car for a few weeks (I was already without a car for a week while it got repaired because I didn’t opt in for hire car cover). But in saying that, that’s not really the insurance company’s fault, more the local repairer. I had to take the car in to them first so they could take their own pics, they had to send away a quote etc and then call me to organise an appointment to bring it in for the actual repair. So from the day I made the claim to picking up my fixed car was 5 weeks.
Everyday Insurance are always lovely to deal with over the phone and they make sure they get the best insurance for you. I have had no problems. Show details · 1
Buyer beware! Check the Woolworths Insurance promotion - SHOP60 before you proceed! I calculated my insurance several times both with and without the code. The code added $10 per month to my premium. In fact COSTING me $120! Customer service was fine once my call was taken after a 45min wait. Show details

Great to deal with, until you need to make a claim. I am now being personally sued by the other parties insurance company. I sent the court papers to Woolworths over a week ago (to the email address they provided) and they are ghosting me. My… Read more
friend is an insurance broker and is shocked they haven't liaised with me yet, apparently it's not normal in the industry and pretty shocking.
10 + phone calls, emails, countless hours on hold and I'm yet to talk to someone who can help me. You simply cannot get past their "general" 1300 claims line. I am told I need to talk to the settlements team, then put on hold for 2hrs with no answer/line drops. Tried the call back option a few times and no one called. Told it had been escalated to a manager who would call me, but they haven't. No replies to emails. I'm literally at a loss on where I go from here.
Complaint made to AFCA and now I sit and wait for the court date and just pray someone at Woolworths is acting in my interests, because I'm not a lawyer and have no idea what to do (nor should I have to, this is literally why I had insurance in the first place).
Appalling customer service and whatever system they have in place for handling customer queries is not hitting the mark. Like I said, their general line is great but as soon as you need real help they just ignore you.
Follow-up · In the end this finally got escalated to someone who wanted to help me, they admitted they let the ball drop and I got a resolution I was happy with Wasn't worth the stress and hassle and ultimately the other party got away with insurance fraud, because Woolworths didnt take action quick enough. So still wouldnt use them again!

7 insurance company from the one I have now to get quotes and the insurance has gone up by hundreds since last year so by shopping around is the best way. I found this one by accident but after getting online quote it was about $500 cheaper than what I was paying. I checked out everything in there coverage and can not fault it the reviews were positive. But if you are going to drive less over the year it's worth it to look at.
Follow-up · There was no hidden fees at all. I chose $1000 excess. I have not had a claim as of yet and all going good I don't want to. As of the insurance policy they were great no pressure tactics at all.
Follow-up · One of the best around. I don't know why some of the other insurers don't follow this . It may affect there share holders profits.
Positive reviews
Easy to shop, compare and switch. Plus the added benefit of being a Woolworths Rewards Member, 10% off monthly shopping and extremely competitive premiums with beneficial glass cover. Also saving as I drive less than 7000 kms per year, so more savings. Show details · 1
This is an excellent product if your kilometers travelled for the term of insurance is low. If you shop at Woolworth, you get a bonus of 10% off one receipt per month. Show details · 1
I can speak to a human, that counts for a lot. I like that you can link your rewards to your insurance and benefit from it. It was fairly simple to cancel the cover when I sold my car. TBC if the refund process is smooth/timely, but the gentleman on the phone was proactive and helpful. Show details · 1

I would prefer to minus 5 stars if I could. Worst insurance company I have ever insured my car with. I have another car which I refused to insure with them after the treatment I received from them. not contact him. Then they wanted to write off the car which was still drivable as the damage was cosmetic...some scratches on the driver's door, front and back bumpers are slightly out of alignment. I refused to have the car written off and they won't pay for the repairs. The car was not repaired. They renewed the insurance last year but this year, they refused as they deemed the car not roadworthy and said to go look elsewhere to insure the car. I would NEVER recommend nor insure with this company again.

professional, patient, and knowledgeable. One representative in particular stood out because he took the time to confirm information rather than guessing, which is credible.
I also appreciate being able to manage things online and would be keen to see even more self-service options in the future. The warning text messages about severe weather and storms heading our way are genuinely helpful. It shows that Everyday is proactive and focused on keeping customers informed.
I haven't had to make a claim yet, so that will ultimately be the real test, and we all know that a good claims experience with a great outcome is the winner really. Based on my experience so far, I'm happy with these guys so far.

Very easy to do and easy to understand sign-up process. Quote came in as 2nd lowest but preferred this one as it gives you the 10% off your supermarket shops and the lowest one was very pushy on the phone and was off-putting. I'm hoping their claims service will be easy too as I haven't had to use that...actually, I'm hoping I wont ever have to use that! Show details · 1
