On a recent trip from NZ to Australia we stayed at Rydges Hotel at Wellington Airport and Sydney Airport. My partner uses a wheelchair and the assistance from the Wellington hotel staff was first class, with assistance, bringing our bags and the wheelchair first to our room then taking us to check in for our flight. The experience at Sydney… Read more

Airport Rydges was the exact opposite. Nobody helped us to our room on arrival, meaning that I had to leave my partner in reception while I took the bags to our accessible room (for which they charged us an extra $20) then come back to fetch her from reception. The next morning, despite asking for assistance, I had to take the wheelchair to the airport, leave her there, return to fetch our cases and then I finally got to talk to the manager - Cyrus - and I was told that there were no staff to assist me. When we finally checked in the Qantas staff told us that it was standard practice for the hotel staff to contact Qantas who would then come to the hotel to assist us - too late to be any assistance to us.

We stayed at the Rydges hotel at Sydney airport. You are definitely paying for the location which was amazing. The room was okay, nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. We stayed on a Public Holiday and wanted to have a drink at the roof top bar. The staff at reception said the bar would open at 5. We went at 5 taking the elevator as far as… Read more

we could and went to walk the stairs the rest of the way. The door was locked so we went back down to the floor we entered from. There was a button saying 'press this button to open the door'. I pressed it and the alarm went off. Maybe this needs to be communicated more clearly.

Stayed four nights at Rydges Cairns Qld last week. The good things were wonderful staff, beautiful sea views, old but clean, nice room, okay buffet breakfast, great coffee at breakfast, aircon and ceiling fan, big, comfortable reception lounge, near beach/foreshore. The not so good; no disabled access to pool, the room service app didn’t work,… Read more

the phone in room was broken, and when I went downstairs to the restaurant I was told it was shut for painting. I didn’t have a car and the nearest cafe was too far in the rain. No microwave available, no biscuit with generic tea and coffee, all Netflix etc are not provided, $15 per night for parking (yes I didn’t have a car but this wasn’t mentioned on booking), the buffet breakfast was cold, no butter available (some cheap ‘spread’ was there). I believe that the high cost of the room should have provided better quality of options.

Worst room service: Look the room is okay, it’s a room, a 1980’s family hotel complex with the bare min in the room, we’ve all stayed in them. It’s dull but whatever. But I just paid $19 dollars for a toastie, with a 5 dollar tray charge. The menu showed a toastiest with fries - but what arrived was a soggy, barely toasted sad sandwich. Depressing. Over priced. Undercooked. How does room service fail to toast a toastie? Show details

The bathroom needs maintenance desperately – The air-conditioning was cool. The beds where very comfortable. Loved the stream option on the TV. The only negative was the bathroom and shower. Unable to use the shower at all. It was held together with a hair tie. The head was shooting down at the tiles. Thank goodness for the bath. You need a shower to wash your hair though. There is no chairs on the balcony.

A health hazard! – Stayed at Rydges Parramatta - paid $452 (total) for 2 nights. It's supposed to be a 4 star hotel but it felt like a backpackers hostel. I kept my shoes on to keep my feet clean and off the carpet it was that disgusting. - mouldy shower - stains on carpet - ceiling falling in places - room covered in dust - bathroom door rotting - stains on walls - airconditioner stopped working numerous times in 37 degree heat with high humidity

A real lifesaver – Arrived very late to Coolangatta Airport due to a terrible delayed flight from Jetstar. Then missed my hire car due to Europcar closing while the other hire car providers stayed open. I was stuck in the airport with no car or hotel. I approached the night clerk who advised there were vacancies and advised the price was $290. I explained the… Read more

situation and said I was not able to pay that much and I’d be leaving 1st thing in the morning. She then checked her system and was able to provide a room for $246 which I took. This made my day. I up until that point was going to sleep in the airport due to Jetstar and Europcar terrible service. We were also giving a Free drinkk token so enjoyed a cold beer before the bar closed.

I was an employee of Rydges in Canberra as part of their function staff, just casual hospo, hadn’t got any shifts for a while then got called in for a few, when I went to do the timesheets I’d been removed from the payroll system - and couldn’t out the hours in. Trading as “Rydges South Park Adelaide” - location 1 South Terrace, Adelaide, SA 5000. Telephone: 08 8216 0300 www.rydges.com/adelaide Overview An establishment run by persons of Indian / Sri Lankan descent. Six floors high. We arrived at 2:50 pm on Thursday 24th April ‘25. We had telephoned 5 hours earlier from interstate prior to departure… Read more

flight to ask for possibility of upgrade due to having platinum membership in Rydges Group. We gave an approximate arrival time of 3 pm, which we honoured. We had planned on staying 4 nights with breakfast included in price, via direct booking on rydges "EVT" website - a "book now and pay later at property" undertaking. Our credit card was swiped upon arrival. We were upgraded to 5th floor (a six floor building) due to the platinum membership.

An hour after arrival I was informed of an unexpected death of a family member. I approached the manager at 6 pm at the front desk to inform him that we would like to depart the next day to be with and to console family members and would need to arrange flights interstate. The manager then informed myself that a minimum of two days would be charged and that he would try to get just one night charged as the total to help us, but this could not be assured. Our room was located directly under the sixth floor wedding function area and we experienced a lot of noise from continued loud band playing and continual singing with ceiling vibrations from a large group of passionate festive Indians joined by hand for group ring dancing with loud chanting from above. The reverb was so bad from the event and the heavy ring dancing that our ceiling vibrated. The noise commenced from 7:30 pm and got progressively louder to maximum within 15 minutes. We could not sleep. At 10:50 pm my wife decided to approach management at the front desk to complain, as my various health issues made it difficult for myself to engage personally. My wife detailed our position with the duty manager and was greeted with the question "was this the first time we had complained about the noise?" The manager then suggested to my wife that "perhaps the noise would soon reduce and that things would start winding down". My wife then returned to our room. In desperation, I then decided to engage a telephone conversation with the manager who then let myself know that we could leave after one night and only be charged for one night. This seemed a turn in the right direction for our needs. The band stopped playing at 11:08 pm and people started disbursing from the wedding party. Until 12:30 am we had a lot of noise from moving furniture and music equipment and voices of persons moving items around inside the function room (audible as loud thumping through our ceiling). The next morning we arranged to leave after breakfast and we were charged for one night accommodation and one round of breakfast. We then made our way to the airport to allow us to return to visit distressed family members in Brisbane. Very little sleep was obtained for our night's stay.

After 16 years of patronage to Rydges and being in our mid fifties for age group, we realise now that our priorities differ from the Rydges group revenue needs and that we now know for sure that a high priority is given to revenue placement from group functions over that of individual persons, as part of the Rydges business plan for this address, as well as other locations (similar occurrence at Palmerston, N.T. : our stay in 2020). This seems to occur at Rydges locations where a not so large building exists (eight floors or less) and that the needs of individuals is placed well and truly of much lower priority and understanding for that of group booking needs where noise cannot be restricted due to physical size of the building. Subsequently, we now will no longer continue to engage this business franchise in any capacity. We have cancelled our 11 nights in Wellington , New Zealand, for August of 2025 and will no longer ever book for Rydges World Square in Sydney for our six monthly getaway, as we have too little confidence in this hotel group for genuine respect of individual customer needs. We cannot and will not ever trust a hotel group that knowingly and willingly places ourselves in a position for paid accommodation under a very loud function floor, without any courtesy or discussion of notification that the event was even happening at all and without providing any alternative choices at the time of check-in. It was also mentioned by management at Rydges South Terrace Adelaide, after my wife asked them to confirm whether or not any other wedding functions were planned (in case we had to stay for more nights and could not arrange our flights back home) that there were was in fact another wedding function planned for Saturday night 26th April on the sixth floor.

Very dated resort – Snowy Rivers Horizon Resort The staff were quite pleasant and helpful and breakfast was nice and the view was sensational. Breakfast Palmerston NT has slipped away – Since arrival of this hotel some seven years or so ago in Palmerston, Northern Territory, the restaurant breakfast has really fallen away from being a really good experience with very good variety and choice to nowadays being a minimal presentation for customers. It was alarming to see only a few small boxed cereals like those you see in… Read more

supermarket shelves, no muesli or yogurt, no grapes or kiwifruit - no real variety of fruit - except for a small offering of rockmelon and a few pieces of watermelon a few oranges sliced and a few dark brown pear halves from a sugar soaked supermarket can. No nuts or baked beans were presented. No passion fruit, no bananas, no grapes - nothing inviting and nutritional for fruits. Both the orange juice and the apple juice was very much further watered down and flavourless on a starting base of re-constituted variety (supermarkets product similarity). No grapefruit or pineapple juice was presented. The whole experience except for bacon and eggs and some nice mushrooms and tomatoes from the bain marie was very underwhelming and disappointing. We would not return here again to spend $25 each for such a minimal and insulting offering. As long term local residents who have visited the breakfast restaurant four times since 2016 we are concerned at where things are now at for this dining experience, as it seems that a decline in satisfaction in value for ourselves has obviously progressively been experienced by ourselves over the seven year period since start of business. These days it is just one plate of hot food and you are out the door, as there’s not much else - except a weird auto machine coffee offering that tastes awful. Employee communication (inter-personal communication) with ourselves has also fallen away from the early glory days at this place where pleasant and engaging communication was the norm to nowadays being a real obvious disconnection with no real effort made for interest being shown from staff for pleasant verbal exchange with customers. A high turnover staff rate has also been observed by ourselves over the years here. This last visit was certainly a disappointing overall experience for myself and my wife.

Good hotel, shame about the environmental waste – We stayed at Rydges Camperdown because of the access to RPAH. room service, but here is a list of restaurants that we sorted out and will deliver- I said NP I will use menu log, hotel said prefer you use our list. Then I found out why. Delivery fee and another 10% fee for the hotel providing what they were supposed to. - view very nice, room ok, very cheap looking jjjjjjeverything. Paid for queen bed, it was a double. Expected Foxtel, they had about 3 Chanel’s. - so no room service and no restaurant, went to check out the supposedly full mini bar - 6 very small long life milk. Nothing else. - order dinner, ordered small portion of pork and 3 sides, got double pork and 3 full size potatoes and pumpkin and onion rings, found out later cost of more than $50. - from 1am spent almost the entire time in the bathroom with food poisoning. To get to the toilet I had to go into the shower, close the bathroom door and could then access the the toilet and sink. No hand rails -asked for extra towels, nothing And for this I paid over $300 p/n.

Very poor standard for Melbourne – The room was so pokey and oppressive. The aircon was noisy and only seemed to have one fan speed. Hairdryer didn’t work (only time I haven’t brought my own) The bath was cruddy and chipped. The plumbing is really noisy, you can hear other rooms showering and flushing loos. The elevator was screeching and making some nasty noises. I was in it with a few people who were equally disappointed with the quality of their rooms. The price didn’t reflect what you got. I’ve stayed in Melbourne in a few places at the same room Price and it was far superior cleanliness and comfort. The staff were pleasant though and I can’t fault their demeanour. I feel sorry for them having to work at such a run down accomodation. The proximity to theatres and CBD is about the only positive I can give it. aware of Rydges terms and cancellation policy but being that I re-booked straight away with the Cronulla they (Rydges Sydney Central) have declined my re-fund of the full amount or any for that matter even though it was cancelled almost immediately, I believe that this wouldn't have effected any of their future bookings and a full re-fund should have been ok... well it wasn't. Not just shabby. Dirty too. Geelong Rydges – The Geelong Rydges is shabby. This doesn’t excuse the dirty furniture. The arm chairs are stained, one has a hole AND they need a vacuum at the top part as dust has collected. They look worse than train seats! Yuk. The carpet has seen better days. whether this would have been charged if I was to book directly, and it was confirmed it would have been). Parking at the location proved quite challenging as the lower carpark was completely full, and there was no clear information/directions given regarding exiting the carpark to park on an alternate level (which was needed).

Unfortunately it seemed that we had booked a room next door to party-goers and smokers. A call to the concierge alleviated this slightly.

The cleaners forgot to leave towels and toiletries on the second day, however this was also rectified by the after hours reception team.

Overall a relatively uneventful stay, with thanks to the concierge and reception team (who were always polite).
