Australian visa was still linked to their old passport. We showed them the official Home Affairs passport-change confirmation, but the staff were completely useless and refused to help.
Australian Border Force has a clear procedure for this exact situation: the airline must contact its 24/7 Border Operations Centre for assistance or boarding clearance. China Southern staff refused to contact BOC, refused to move the passenger despite the ticket allowing changes, and simply cancelled the ticket.
Two family members were forced to fly while the third was abandoned in Moscow. Nobody explained whether the return flights were also cancelled, whether we would receive a refund, or what we were supposed to do. We now have to purchase another expensive ticket to reunite our family.
This was not unavoidable. It happened because China Southern’s Moscow staff were incompetent, unhelpful and unwilling to follow the official procedure available to them.
Absolutely disgraceful treatment. We are left completely in the dark with what we can do. We called Australian immigration and they said there was no reason airline would refuse entry if we have visa, new passport, and change of details application. Either lazy to reach out to BOC or simply incompetent. Avoid this airline.

Fares are often similar to Nexus Airlines and for the regional routes I use, both are generally a little cheaper than Qantas.
My main criticism is the online payment process. I recently tried to book a Rex flight using my Qantas Pay prepaid Mastercard. There were sufficient funds available, and I had successfully used the same card earlier that day to purchase a Qantas flight.
The Rex website declined the payment with the message: “Payment Authorisation could not be obtained, Please try again, you have 2 attempts remaining.”
I then tried PayPal using the same Qantas Pay card, but that was also declined with: “Check your account balance before trying this card again.” There were sufficient funds available.
The online checkout provides card and PayPal payment options but no Apple Pay or Google Pay, which was particularly inconvenient in this situation.
Rex also charges a 1% online booking/handling fee, plus a payment surcharge — currently 1.5% for Mastercard or 0.82% for PayPal, excluding GST. However, booking online is still preferable to paying an additional $22 service fee for booking over the phone.
I had specifically transferred money into Qantas Pay for the flights. After neither Rex’s card payment nor PayPal worked, I had to cash the funds back out, which Qantas Pay advises can take up to two business days.
On the positive side, I have frequently used Rex’s unaccompanied minor service (UMR) and have found both the booking and handover processes straightforward, with no issues. I have never had concerns about my child’s safety or care during the process. Collection is also appropriately controlled and safe — the minor is only released to the person authorised for collection on the UMR form.
Overall, Rex remains a basic but reliable and competitively priced regional airline. Adding Apple Pay and Google Pay would make its online booking system considerably more convenient.

leg space and bassinet. However the plane was changed to an A320 without notifying us until 5 days out when i was told of a retime to an hour later and had noticed then we were changed to their A320. I was automatically given the row 28 ; i was happy with that as that has plenty of legroom. I was told 48 hours out that i had to change to row 23 as infants werent allowed in the exit row ; obviously this didnt have much leg room at all and there was no option for the bassinet (though at this point it the bassinet wasnt a high priority as our infant we found out didnt like the bassinet anyways). By this time rows 21 weren't available anymore. I had asked for an explaination and some sort of apology for this issue in any form but was met with the standard "too bad" spiel.
I have always given good feedback and encouraged people to fly RBA as an alternative to the airlines flying out of Australia due to the lower costs, professionalism of the ground staff and courtesy /friendliness of the air crew ; this experience has however changed my view of RBA for the worse.
its hard enough to convince people to fly a dry airline with little to do in Brunei as a stopover) and they forever are losing a customer to Singapore Airlines despite the longer flight time with them.

disappointed with the way Singapore Airlines has handled our recent travel disruption. What should have been a straightforward customer-service matter has turned into a frustrating and unacceptable experience.
Our Singapore Airlines flight SQ352 from Singapore to Copenhagen on 13 September 2026 was delayed by approximately 35 minutes due to a technical issue involving the aerobridge in Singapore. We were booked on a connecting SAS flight SK2862 from Copenhagen to Bergen, with boarding scheduled for 7:45am. Because of the delay, SQ352 departed Singapore at approximately 12:35am instead of 12:05am and arrived in Copenhagen at approximately 7:35am.
As a result, we missed our connecting flight.
When we arrived in Copenhagen, we sought assistance from Singapore Airlines. We were dealt with by [Name Removed], who told us that there were no available SAS flights to Bergen that day and that all SAS flights departing Copenhagen for Bergen were full. We were therefore left with no practical option other than purchasing Norwegian Air tickets ourselves so that we could continue our journey.
What makes this situation particularly unacceptable is what happened afterwards.
Singapore Airlines subsequently responded to my complaint by email, and [Name removed] explicitly advised us that Singapore Airlines would refund the airfare we had to pay for the Norwegian Air flight.
Based on that written response, we reasonably believed the matter had been resolved and that Singapore Airlines had accepted responsibility for reimbursing the additional airfare caused by the missed connection.
However, Singapore Airlines has now backtracked on that position, telling us that they need another 72 hours to investigate whether the Norwegian Air fare will actually be refunded.
This is extremely disappointing.
If Singapore Airlines had not intended to reimburse the additional airfare, why was I initially told in writing that the fare would be refunded?
The conflicting information is especially concerning. We were given information at Copenhagen which we now believe was inaccurate, and after receiving written confirmation that the Norwegian Air fare would be refunded, Singapore Airlines is now apparently reconsidering that commitment.
For an airline that promotes itself as a premium carrier, I expected considerably better customer service, communication and accountability.
The issue is not simply the cost of the Norwegian Air tickets. It is the lack of consistency, transparency and accountability in how Singapore Airlines has dealt with us. Customers should not have to repeatedly chase an airline after being given a written commitment regarding a refund.
I hope Singapore Airlines honours the written assurance already provided and reimburses the Norwegian Air fare without further delay.
Very disappointing experience. Singapore Airlines needs to take responsibility for the disruption, provide accurate information to passengers, and stand by the commitments made by its customer-service representatives.
At this stage, based on my experience, I would seriously reconsider flying with Singapore Airlines again.

those 6 flights have gone without an extensive drama. 4 flights were late or cancelled due to technical problems which is a load of nonsense and they should be forced to compensate travellers (one was a 4 hour delay) - maintain your damn planes rather than strip out cost everywhere to pretend you have a lower cost base than you actually do (in prep for another IPO where you gouge investors).
2 of the 5 flights they also sold my seat despite turning up to the airport 1.25hrs before the flight and put me through multiple
They also have terrible online check in that doesn’t always work and the baggage check in seems to have long queues and breaks.
And finally, on today’s flight my wife didn’t realise she hadn’t ticked a box to say baggage in the hold and so they charged us $240 one way for two bags for a two hour flight. It’s a scandal but we had no choice once the tickets were booked. honestly we would be much better off financially if we just went with Qantas.
They would have got zero stars from me if I could have made them zero. I don’t blame the staff, I wholly blame management and the owners. You are a joke, gouging customers so that you can eventually gouge investors.

Off-flight is a slightly different experience as I was bumped from a seat that I paid for. But mainly, my big stress and let-down with VN is the transit experience at Ho Chi Minh city airport. I was transiting to a domestic Hanoi flight and apart from getting a 'transit' sticker stuck on my lapel, there was otherwise no assistance provided in what is a pretty harrowing experience. As a customer you need to clear immigration at HCM city, collect you luggage, and get yourself across to Terminal 3 (about 30-40 mins by bus!), and then at Terminal 3 you need to chase down where the [Content Removed] the departures are and re-check you bag in for the Hanoi flight. Bunch all of the immigration, bus transfer, mission-seeking to locate departures and then baggage re-check-in and you should be allowing about 2.5 hours between flights, however my connecting flight was booked for me in just under 2 hours. So I was stressed beyond words trying to get over to the other terminal and make my connecting flight. I did make it, as the last passengers were boarding. VN, you need to fix this.

attempt to get even basic information through phone calls, emails, Planebiz and Jetstar staff at Christchurch Airport. Instead of receiving help, I was repeatedly passed from one person to another, with nobody seemingly able or willing to take responsibility.
The experience left me with the impression that Jetstar’s approach to customer service is to ignore customers until they become too tired to keep asking. Taking payment is straightforward; getting help when something goes wrong is another matter entirely. Although Jetstar lost my luggage, the burden of chasing updates and finding someone who could help fell entirely on me.
The service at Christchurch Airport was particularly appalling. I approached four Jetstar counters to ask about my missing luggage. At the first three, the response was essentially: “We don’t know. Ask the next counter.”
After speaking to staff at all four counters without getting an answer, I asked to speak to a manager. I was told the manager was too busy to come out. I then asked for the manager’s phone number, which staff refused to provide. When I asked them to call the manager on my behalf, a staff member reluctantly dialled, hung up after roughly three seconds and told me nobody had answered.
In the end, it was an elderly airport volunteer—not a Jetstar employee, who overheard what had happened and helped me find the appropriate contact. Of course, Jetstar continued to pass the buck until I threatened to go to VCAT, at which point it took them 10 days to get my luggage back to me.

Bear with me...its a long rant.
Somebody told Fiji Airways that theres money to be made on the trans Pacific route so they went on a media offensive with great deals. I booked a promo return ticket from SYD to LAX for like $900+. I booked a ticket and proceeded to book my rental car straightaway with the pick up and drop off in line with my itinerary. Thought i snag a great deal, but once the transaction goes through... there was no confirmation email! I thought that was strange, almost all the airlines i fly with would send a confirmation email almost immediately. I checked that my credit card was charged so it must have gone through. Waited for a few days and still no confirmation email.
Send some emails to enquire and to my horror, they said they cant find my booking!
So i showed them my credit card statement with the charge to Fiji Airways. They said they will check.
A few days later, they got back to me and said they found my booking and proceeded to issue an electronic ticket in a sort of an electronic printout machine language with no spaces and punctuation. Very hard to decipher. Not the kind of confirmation email you would get even from a budget carrier. Heres my only mistake. I did not checked that although i booked for the 28th July USA date on their system, they manually issued me with a ticket for 28th Fiji date. Which translate to 27th in LA.
So after returning the car on 28th, i turned up at the counter and of course, found out that my booked flight was 24 hours ago.
Then the shocker...So i asked to be booked to the next available flight and was told to 'top up' some $3000 to buy my 1 way ticket from LAX to SYD!!! This is Fiji Airways service recovery?
So quickly went online and found an Air New Zealand flight LAX to SYD (via Auckland) for $1100.
What kind of airline capitalizes on this kind of mistake (which is arguably theirs, given the circumstances) to profit from their customers?
Absolutely worst experience ever. Never again would i consider flying Air Fiji. Beautiful place, Beautiful people but either the corporates are hungry to make a quick buck. Or the operations people just have no clue how to run a services company professionally. Admin cant keep up while marketing went crazy.

(ticket 7815840206139 ) from Brisbane to Buenos Aires via Auckland nine months in advance, expecting a comparable standard of service if changes were required.
When my original Qantas connection (QF117) was cancelled, I expected a reasonable replacement.
Instead, I was offered an 8:30am departure requiring a 5:30am airport arrival (I live over an hour away and am elderly and disabled), along with a layover that more than doubled from ~3 hours to over 6 hours.
I proposed a near-identical alternative on Air New Zealand (NZ146). This was first refused, then briefly approved only in economy, and ultimately not available. The only consistent option presented was the inferior early Qantas flight.
In the end, I had no practical choice but to accept a significantly worse itinerary in the same Business Class cabin I had paid for.
This was not about preference, but about being offered a reasonable alternative after a cancellation — this did not occur.
I would welcome China Eastern revisiting this outcome given the circumstances.

What made the experience even worse was the treatment from one of the cabin crew members, [Name Removed], who was extremely rude and dismissive throughout the flight. I was in visible discomfort due to severe swelling in my feet and politely requested to temporarily use a row of empty seats nearby until the crew needed them. Instead of showing basic compassion, she repeatedly refused and spoke rudely, even rolling her eyes when I asked for vegetarian food after being served the wrong meal.
On multiple occasions, my call button was simply switched off without even asking what I needed. I was ignored, not properly served dinner, and treated with complete lack of empathy despite clearly struggling physically during the flight.
Taking away paid seats is already unacceptable, but combining that with such poor customer service made this journey stressful and humiliating. I expected far better professionalism and care from an international airline.
I will not be choosing SriLankan Airlines again unless this issue is properly addressed.
