cleaning. She used her own initiative and went over and above the normal weekly routine tasks. She took total ownership of her duties and her quality of work, dedication and care was always superb. She was loyal and very reliable. My circumstances have now changed and I no longer have the need for a regular weekly cleaner so sadly her job came to an end. If ever the need arises in the future and I need a cleaner again I would have her back in a heart beat. I wish her all the best with securing replacement jobs and every success for the future.

“clean” with a leaf blower and removed a small quantity of rotted old plastic gutter guard (for an extra $100) Two days later there was another heavy rain with the gutter again overflowing and water entering the house. The insurance team showed us photos that the “cleaned” gutter was full of leaves, mud and moss (ie had not been cleaned) and the downpipe was completely blocked. I have contacted the company In Writing, but no reply.

here for 42 years) quote included walls, blinds, skirting boards, windows inside and out, dusting, photo frames etc. 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 living area home its no small so initial conversation was it may take 2 days no a problem. After 5 hours the 2 men tell me they are done and want to be paid. This was unexpected as we expect them to be here until late or come back the next day. I refused so husband could come take a look as i wasn't happy. Husband came home and felt the same and contacted them, they returned and he showed them all the placed and things they had not done and stayed another 2 1/2 hours. The wife who booked this job also showed up and can't even explain how rude she was and after 2 1/2 hours demanded to be paid even though they had not done what was quoted. Blinds not cleaned, walls not cleaned, skirting boards no cleaned, my floors feel dirty still since they never changed the mopping water, mop was filthy when they started. My house stinks from whatever they used with their dirty mop. Photos are after they left the second time. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

Different types of cleaning jobs
General cleaning
General cleaning usually involves an all-over tidy of the house, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping and cleaning surfaces.
You can decide how regularly you’d like a cleaning service to clean your house, office or property. This is usually decided between you and the cleaning service; many cleaners will cater to daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly cleans.
Although a general cleaning service will concentrate on the general cleanliness of your house, if an area happens to be exceptionally dirty, such as the bathroom, you can request that they pay particular attention to that spot.
Depending on how quickly you’d like your house cleaned, you can either hire a single cleaner or team of cleaners.
End of lease/bond cleaning
Moving out of your home is often a stressful time, particularly when there's money tied up in the bond. Hiring an end of lease cleaner can be a great way to help ensure you get as much of your bond back as possible. Of course, end of lease cleaners won't be able to fix any damage or wear and tear you've done to the house, but they can make it as clean as possible so that there are minimal issues with your landlord or property agent after you've handed back the keys.
Carpet cleaning
For stains that refuse to budge, it’s sometimes best to call the experts in. Cleaners can professionally steam clean carpets that have heavy-duty stains, for example, if your pet makes a mess or if you spill wine on your new rug. The carpet cleaners they use are usually commercial-grade and more heavy-duty than ones you can buy from your local appliance store.
Some rugs are made from delicate, specialised materials, such as wool, silk or cotton, that require cleaning tools and know-how to prevent damage. A carpet cleaning service will usually be able to cater to rugs and flooring of all types, and will know how best to deal with what you've got.
Deep cleaning
For those with respiratory issues, traces of dust and dirt hidden in the crevices of your home can trigger asthma attacks or make breathing difficult. A deep clean will go a step further to tidy and sterilise. This usually involves targeting areas that are skipped over in a general clean, such as removing cobwebs and dusting nooks and crannies like door frames and other hard to reach areas.
Specific area cleaning
Scared to touch the thick layer of grime that has built up at the back of the fridge after years of neglect? Cleaning services can target particular sections, such as fridges, ovens or windows as extra add-ons to a general clean or as an isolated service.
It’s not always possible to have all the necessary cleaning products on hand, which is why hiring a professional is so convenient. They will have the appropriate tools on hand to attack grime, bacteria, and stains.
Reasons for hiring a house cleaner
If you are physically able and have some free time, then a house cleaning service may not be entirely necessary. Cleaning the house yourself can save you a significant sum over time.
However, there are also plenty of instances where hiring a cleaning service is preferable or necessary for maintaining a clean house - we've listed some below.
You lack free time
Many house cleaning tasks might be manageable for most - but the problem is that these tasks can require expending time and energy that you may not have - or would rather put into something else.
For full-time workers who’ve worked hard all day, the idea of coming home to a messy house that you will need to clean is a stressful one. Plus, many people have other obligations outside of paid work that make finding the time to clean difficult, such as looking after children, shopping for groceries, or simply taking time to relax or do hobbies.
You’re not physically able to
Cleaning the house can be physically demanding, particularly when it comes to hard-to-clean areas like the kitchen or bathroom, where you may need to do some more rigorous scrubbing.
Whether you have mobility issues or just find cleaning too taxing on your body, hiring a home cleaning service will take that added stress away.
How to choose a house cleaning service
Decide on your budget
Whether you wish to set up a weekly clean or just require a one time-time cleaning service, it's useful to establish a budget so you can compare services that suit your budget. If it's your first time hiring a cleaner and you're unsure of costs, you can also do some research first to see what the price range is before you decide on how much you're willing to pay.
Read reviews and look for recommendations
Read through reviews online to check which cleaning companies people love. Referrals from online reviews are useful in seeing how reliable a cleaning service is, how timely they are (whether they arrive on time and complete the job in a timely manner) and whether the customer was satisfied with the job they did.
Word of mouth is also a great way to find out about cleaning services. Recommendations from people you trust can help you figure out whether a cleaning service would be a good fit for your specific situation.
Insurance
You may want to enquire about whether the cleaning company is insured. Cleaning contractors can choose from a range of insurance products, but public liability insurance is the most popular. When cleaning, there are many risks that cleaners face when it comes to damaging property and personal injury, which are covered by public liability.
Products and equipment
Check what the expectations around products and equipment is with any cleaning service you're considering hiring. Most cleaning companies will bring their own products and equipment, but some might ask the client to provide these instead.
You might also want to think about the type of cleaning materials a company uses. Some industrial cleaning products might contain harsh chemicals; if you have pets, small children or people with certain allergies at home, you may want to opt for a cleaner who uses more natural or plant-based products.
How much does a house cleaner cost per hour?
A general clean can cost anywhere between $30 to upwards of $80 an hour. However, the amount you’ll pay depends on different factors, such as what type of cleaning service you’re after, the company you use, and the size of the area you’d like cleaned. Some cleaning companies offer reduced rates if you use their services more regularly.
