that the shop was quite disorganised. On my first visit, the staff lost my order, and I had to chase them and go in again to place it again with Michael. Then the completion day came and went and I chased them for many weeks. Michael called me so many times re collection, and it was difficult to lock in a time for me to go and collect the ring. But, finally, all ended well!

had both sides engraved - the side with our daughter's name looks great but the side where we added more text is very tiny and quite tricky to read. If I'd known it would come out so small, I probably would have saved myself $15 and only engraved one side. Hot tip: if engraving text, keep it simple and short to get the most effective look.

every step of the journey. From our very first conversation, it was evident Emily, Cathy & Scott are not only incredibly skilled but also genuinely passionate about what they do. Their professionalism is unmatched, yet they make you feel like you're collaborating with old friends rather than just business partners. What I appreciated most was their relatability. They took the time to truly understand my vision and aspirations for the product, and then worked tirelessly to bring it to life. The quality of their work – simply impeccable. Every detail, from the design to the final product, exceeded expectation. If you're looking for a partner to turn your vision into reality, look no further than Pure Envy – you won't be disappointed.

Terrible product and customer service** If only there was a 0 star rating, this would be more accurate rating for this terrible service and products.… Read more
We purchased a $3,000 diamond ring from Michael Hill for our 25th wedding anniversary. Despite completing the required inspections, two diamonds fell out within approximately 15 months. Michael Hill now claims the ring has been subjected to “significant wear,” even though I wore it sparingly and treated it carefully.
Their response lacked empathy, transparency and any meaningful solution. They relied on an internal jeweller’s assessment and refused to provide me with any documentation, or photos relating to their assessment. They left me feeling blamed rather than supported. I am now left with a sentimental anniversary ring that I no longer want to wear. They have now refused to repair the damage and will return it to me with no alternative solution. An extremely disappointing and distressing experience.
I will be submitting a formal complaint with Fair Trading NSW, and I urge anyone else who has had this experience to do the same. They can't keep getting away with selling such poor products, and not repair or offer alternative solutions when things go wrong.

shipped, and I had to discover the issue myself and contact ATOLEA. My second order arrived with multiple quality concerns and did not look as advertised. After repeatedly requesting escalation, [Name Removed] from management finally contacted me and offered a resolution.
I responded asking for clarification and have now been waiting THREE DAYS with no response, despite multiple follow-ups.
This has been going on for weeks. Customers should not have to repeatedly chase a company just to get a response and resolve an order issue. I tried extensively to handle this privately, but the lack of communication from customer service and management is unacceptable.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend ATOLEA.

Types of jewellery stores
Looking for a jewellery store to buy your next piece (or gift) can be daunting because there's so much choice out there. We narrow stores down to three main types - you can read the pros and cons of each to see which one you might prefer supporting.
Chain jewellery stores
Chain jewellers are often the ones you see advertising on TV and radio. A lot of the time, the jewellery these stores make is mass-produced, and so are often cheaper but lower quality. These stores will often have a large choice in store and lots of inventory, so there's little chance of you seeing a style and then it being completely sold out.
While being considered more affordable, often chains will also sell higher end jewellery for those who want a more luxe piece.
Independent jewellery stores
Independent jewellery stores usually create a more personal experience when you shop. There is often a jeweller on site who you can meet and discuss your options with.
Online jewellery stores
Online jewellery stores are usually cheaper than independent jewellery stores, and depending on the store, may even be cheaper than a lot of chains. Quality, price range and service varies from store to store.
What to consider when choosing a jeweller
Product range
The first thing you should consider is what you're looking for. Often stores will have a particular 'style' of jewellery they sell, which can help you easily figure out whether you think you'll find something there for you.
It's also worth considering looking at specialty stores if you're after specific, such as a dainty engagement ring or a watch with an unusual aesthetic. The staff here will often have more unique knowledge in the type of jewellery you're after.
Quality and authenticity
Depending on what you want to buy, quality and authenticity may be a deciding factor when choosing a jewellery store. If you're buying something with diamonds, are the diamonds GIA-certified? Is your piece of jewellery laser-inscribed with a serial number for security purposes? Does the store provide certification papers?
If you're buying a more luxury item, it's worth checking if the jeweller is part of reputable industry organisations, such as the Jewellers' Association of Australia and the Gemmological Association of Australia.
Budget
A piece of jewellery can cost anything from a few bucks to thousands and thousands of dollars, so it's a good idea to have some sense of what you want to spend before going shopping. Of course, your idea of budget may change once you've seen the quality, style and price range of what's in store.
Customer service
Different stores will have differing levels of customer service. In some stores, you'll be left to peruse at your leisure, while others may have an attendant who can walk you through all the possible options for you.
It's important to also consider after-sales service, particularly for more expensive items. Many jewellers will offer free lifetime cleaning services and jewellery inspection for more valuable pieces. Ensure you know about the returns and warranty policies if you're splashing out some savings on something more pricey.
Read reviews to see what a store's customer service is like
It's hard to tell before going in store to determine what kind of service you'll receive when you shop. That's why reading customer reviews is so important. Read up on how helpful and friendly staff were, whether or not they were pushy to make a sale, and how they communicated when something went wrong or there was an issue with a purchase.
Popular brands to look out for
There are many Australian and international brands that are popular. In addition to scrolling through the top-rated jewellery stores and brands on ProductReview.com.au, it's worth checking out popular shops to see what all the fuss is about.
Affordable jewellery shops and brands
Buying stylish jewellery doesn’t always mean you have to spend hundreds. Here are some popular shops and brands to consider:
- Lovisa: an inexpensive, trendy chain jewellery shop popular with kids, tweens and young adults.
- Colette Hayman: an affordable chain jewellery store that also sells handbags.
Mid-range jewellery shops and brands
These shops and brands sell mid-range items, and usually have pieces you can buy for under $100 as well as more luxe jewellery:
- Michael Hill: a chain jewellery store selling silver and gold jewellery, as well as watches, engagement and wedding rings.
- Prouds: a slightly more affordable chain jewellery brands that specialises in gold and silver jewellery, watches, and giftware.
- Angus & Coote: another chain jewellery brand that sells a range of styles.
- Zamel's Jewellery: a chain jewellery store that sells pieces starting from $10 to select pieces around $20,000 and higher.
- Goldmark: a more budget to mid-range chain jeweller.
- Swarovski: a brand specialising in crystal jewellery and accessories, as well as jewellery with gemstones.
- Pandora: a popular jeweller that's known for their charm bracelets.
- Mimco: Mimco sells statement jewellery as well as bags and wallets.
Luxury jewellery shops and brands
You'll likely have to fork out quite a bit for these brands:
- Tiffany & Co.: an American luxury jewellery brand that's known for its sterling silver and diamond jewellery, as well as it's signature blue packaging.
- Designers like Chanel and Louis Vuitton also sell high-end jewellery.
Conclusion
Overall, whether you’re on the hunt for dainty sleeper earrings or gold bangles, buying good-quality jewellery doesn’t always mean you have to drain your bank account to do so. There are many different stores and brands catering to different budgets and occasions, as well as different styles and personalities.
